You are getting into morality. Well lets deal with morality. God didn't make America and Mexico and every other country, He made land and humans and gave the land to the humans. We are the ones who separated it into countries. Who are we to say to Mexicans that you can't have the gift God gave you because you weren't born between two arbitrary lines on the land in question? It may be illegal (against the law), but it isn't immoral (against God's commands) and so I would argue that the law is immoral and should be struck down in all lands. So no they "shouldn't" (quotes are for emphasis that it should not be done, not that it won't be done) charge immigrants with a crime because the law is the crime.

it depends really. maybe some illegal immagrants come to the u.s for a reason maybe to live a better life ,to get away from the other hardships that they were doing back where they used to live. if that they're reason and they dont have a criminal background from their home country then they should just face small charges, because thats what makes america special the opportunity that people are wanting, thing heres that they dont have. but if they are here illegally running away from criminal charges back where they were from thats a different story.

Considereing the fact that I live in W. TX I belive they should be sent back to where ever they came from perferably sent so far from the border that they can't find their way back. Our papers are full of the destruction these people do to family ranches. The papers also report on the bodies found left behind by the people who illegally transport these people across our borders. All people deserve better than to die and be left to the buzzards in the hot W. TX desert. Also, those who do make it across have the nerve to demonstrate on our streets carrying their foreign flags. They need to remember where in the heck they are. So I guess I am saying send their law breaking butts back where they came from.

Absolutely.

First time offenders- sent back
Second time- 30 days in a very unpleasant tent camp like they have in Arizona.

Secure the border, stop the invasion, save the nation.

To the answer "they aren't ours to punish", the same could be said for terrorists and drug dealers who are foriegn nationals. Would you also say that residents of one state visiting another are also not subject to the laws of the state they are visiting?

You mean if they commit another crime or are you asking if they should be charged for coming into the country illegally? I'd say if they do something they can't be touched because they're not a citizen you'd have to ship them home.

I don't think that they should be label as criminals,
but I think that their countries leaders should, and the USA
should tax them. For example for each illegal immigrant the USA should charge 2500.00 US dlls in penalty fees, this fee would have to be paid by , let's say Mexico or better yet Fox, and then get deported, I'll bet you that Fox would have better job opportunities down there.

And add 11,000,000 more prisoners to our already saturated prison system? At what cost? Lets see it costs the state system about $35000.00 a year to house an inmate. So 35000 times 11,000,000 is my gosh! My calculator just exploded! Just charge them with a crime negating any chance of legal residency and deport them. It's the border patrol's job to catch and deport them anyway.

While I agree that people should immigrate to this country legally, I do not understand the mentality of wanting to see illegal immigrants severly punished for desperately seeking out a better life than the one they had in their home country. Many people immigrate illegally because they are desperately trying to escape persecution in their home country. Shouldn't there be more anmesty for those people?

They are considered felony offenders. However once they go to court some are given the choice for(cough) voluntary deportation. If they should take take that option they are given, they go back to their country and then can file the correct papers to come legally.

I think that as long as they don't do anything else illegal and they know how to speak our language, they should be fine. I hate the ones that come into the restaurant that don't even know how to speak English and they expect me to serve them when they are here illegally!! I absolutely hate that.

They should think of themselves as lucky to be here, and so on... but if they are caught, they should just be deported or something. We can't really afford to house a million immigrants in jail just because they are in our country illegally. I believe they should be punished, but we can't afford to do it.
