I don't know for sure. But, it wouldn't suprise me if it was a bunch of lies.
The bible is a book, one that was written by a man, thousands of years ago, in a completely different language... and I'm supposed to believe every single thing in it.... Uhhhh... no sorry.
Also, technically I'm christian, I was baptised catholic, went thru the first communion and all that stuff, and throughout my life, I've come to the conclusion that Christians are some of the most hypocritical, judgemental people in the world.
And then all of the questions with evolution and all that. I really haven't determined what I think. But, I'm not convinced on the whole Christianity thing at all. I am somewhat anti-religion now. I just choose to live right, and have my own personal spiritual relationship with god or whatever.

Religions, cultures and societies have used stories throughout history to help us better understand the human condition. Whether the stories are fact or fiction, they are not meant to be relegated as fact but rather a tool to help the listener or reader interpret his or her own experiences in life. There is a book that is written about a man's journey across an ocean and he tells the story two different ways. In the first story he just recounts the different events that occured during his voyage. In the second story of accounts, he includes the addition of a tiger that has amazing abilities and helps him all through the journey. This tiger saves him many times during the journey and does incredulous feats that astound the reader. When they finally reach land, the tiger jumps off the boat and runs off into the forest and is not seen again by anyone. Well after the man tells his two different stories to the people in the book, he asks them which story did they like better, the one with the tiger or the one without the tiger. The people agreed that they liked the story with the tiger better. We usually prefer the human story with the tiger (God) rather than without the tiger. Belief is just that. Either you do or don't but it really does not change the outcome of the story.

That's what the non-christians would have you believe.

Except us agnostics. We don't want you to believe anything. Or disbelieve anything. We're agnostic!

Anyway, Christianity isn't JUST a bunch of lies, because if nothing else, it's a bunch of stories designed to teach some form of morality and ethics. And while the stories themselves may be lies, they have some level of effect beyond simply BEING lies. So Christianity isn't JUST a bunch of lies, it's COMPOSED of a bunch of lies.

Of course it isn't! How can you look at how great this world is, and how intricate something you may believe to be simple is...and believe it was there by accident? Next time you're outside, look at something you think is simple, and watch it for awhile. (If it's alive that is, if its not, pick it up and look at it!)

Besides, if you think its all lies, have you ever even thought of picking up a Bible and reading some of the stuff that's in there? I doubt it. I bet you that if you picked it up and read some of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John...etc.) you would come to the conclusion that it isn't a lie!

You poor, uninformed girl. If you only knew how
blessed and happy being a real Christian can
make your life. I know because that's my life.
Try watching Joel Osteen on tv once or twice
and see what you think. Faith comes by hearing
so if you don't ever hear what Christianity is all
about, you will never have faith. Unbelief brings
darkness, unhappiness, and gloom; and worst,
eternity in hell (whether you believe in hell or not
doesn't matter because it's there).

Technically, all religions are just attempts by our less sophisticated ancestors to get a handle on the nature of the world around them - from sun worship to large organised religions. Unfortunately, people in positions of power tend to use religion as a control method for weaker-willed subjects to bend them to their point of view, either subtly or by forcing it on them.
Unfortunately, the more complex a religion becomes, the further away it gets from it's original intention and the more over-administered it becomes. And that's without the religions which have been created in recent decades with the sole purpose of making their creator/administrator a pile of money..
I've been to all sorts of churches, chapels and places of worship and I'm still waiting for that beam of light to hit me with all the answers!

to generalize it and dumb it down to this level means you dont fully comprehend christianity as the ethical monotheistic religion that it is.

While certain sects have more "lies" behind them than others, down deep beneath all the sects lie some underlying concepts that cannot be ignored or called a lie... which is why SO freaking many people around the world follow it. You say Prove Jesus existed, I say prove he didnt!

There is a difference between a lie and a metaphore or a symbolism. All religions are based on super-natural events, that are logically not real, but on another level they symbolise (materialise) the nature of the divinity, in order to be understood by humans.

No. There is a lot of evidence and witnesses that can prove that Jesus died and rose from the dead. And He did that only to save us from eternal punishment. If He did not die for our sins, all of us will be thrown into the lake of fire after we die and we will face eternal punishment. But Jesus' death and resurrection provides a way out, all we have to do is to believe in Him.

Where can you find a better deal?

Yet Christianity is not a deal between us and God. It is by God's mercy that we are saved.

Pretty much. Lies originally with good intentions but over time have been terribly twisted. At throot of it it is lies though.
