Running water is wasteful. You should wash in a sink of water that is 1/3 full. Wash the cleanest dishes first and save any greasy dishes to add later. Change water if needed, but you will run way too much water if you wash the other way.

I dont have a dishwasher or a double sink, so i used a dish bin (you can get it at walmart) and i fill that with hot soapy water so the dishes can soak. Then i wash and rinse into the sink under running water.

I might soak dishes and a sink full of soapy water but I prefer to wash them with running water, usually I rinse and soap up the dishes at one time and then I run them all through really hot water to sterilize them and rinse all the soap off. I'm sorry you don't have a dishwasher, I love mine.

If you have just one or two pieces, washing under running water is fine. If you have more than just a couple, though, the sink full of soapy water is better. It saves water, and your dishes will be just as clean. (Of course, I'm assuming that you've scraped the majority of the food off the dishes. If you have a plateful of pasta, that's going to effect how clean your dishes get.)

I wash mine under running water, but I have no choice because I only have one sink. If you live in an area that is prone to droughts, I would wash the dishes in a sink full of soapy water.

Washing with running water. If you wash the dishes in a sink full of dirty water that defeats the purpose of washing dishes because its still going to be dirty.

ok well... if you wash while running the water the whole time then you are wasting alot of water.... do you scrape the dishes before you wash them? there should not be enough food left to make the other dishes yucky... and if there is then you arent scraping them good enough. you must be young. young people dont think about wasting water. do you pay a water bill?
i use a dishpan inside my sink that i make my dishwater with... all the dishes are scraped and sometimes rinsed before i even start washing... if my dishpan water gets yucky, i dump it and make more, but i very seldom have to do that... usually only if i have people over for dinner (like 10-15) thats alot of dishes, so i usually go through two dishpans of dishwater...

In a sink full of soapy water and then rinse them. That's the way I've always done it and I've never ever had a dish washer!
