Answer to your question is both yes and no.
It depends on your question: Can humans survive with bananas and water?
Sure they will.
Can humans survive for very long period (10 years) of time?
Answer : No. Bananas contain very limited number of nutritients.
In order for you to be healthy, you must eat well balanced diet.
e.g. You need vitamin A for good vision. And bananas contain very little if any vitamin A. So your vision will likely be not as strong as you would like. vitamin A is also responsible for keeping your immune system in good shape. It's like a team of players working together to keep your machine healthy. What if one or more of your team player is not ready to play, you are likely to lose. Same thing here. So if you don't get these nutrients (not just A), survival is limited.

We could survive, but probably not as long as we could normally with a more balanced diet.
Bananas are an excellent source of potassium -- but eating bananas alone would result in big-time deficiencies in other vitamin areas.

of course they cannot survive. All fruits have a good deal of vitamins and some of them including banana have enough sugar (carbohydrate) to serve up enough energy. But fruits for the most part cannot provide with the body enough proteins including essential aminoacids. Also we need some fat to survive and fruits are a poor source of fat. This is true for banana and most other fruits we usually eat. That's why the vegetarians need to complement their foods with nuts, rice, wheat and some other sources of fat and proteins.
I hope this helps

I suppose you could for a while until the body starts to lack other vitamins. And bananas are high in posasuim and I think if all you eat is bananas you could get way to much, posasium is deadly in high doses and hard for the body to get rid of on its own

No, you would need more protein, nutrients and vitamins. After a long time with no greens your teeth would fall out like a meth addict. You could probably survive on that for half a year or so but you would be in pretty bad shape.

They could probably survive, but I'm sure there would be all kinds of health problems, you would have many vitamin deficiencies, no protein, nothing, that's bound to make you sick.

Look at it this way. Everyone will die eventually. Therefore, the question should not be CAN you survive, but HOW LONG will you survive.
