I don't care whatever the reasons are for doing it (be it religion or trying to lose weight), IT'S NOT GOOD FOR YOU. All it will do is throw your body off, slow down your metabolism, and will actually make you gain weight because after you begin eating again after fasting, your body will store everything that you eat.
You're shocking your system when you don't eat and whenever you do eat again, its going to store the food as fat because your not on a regular eating schedule anymore and your body doesn't know when the next time it will get fed (so-to-speak).
So in a nutshell, your body adapts to the change, slows everything down, then stores food as fat, and I don't recommend it to anyone.

Fasting is perfectly healthy considering you have a true plan of action, are in reasonably good health, possibly have clearance from your doctor and are willing to pay attention to the signals your body gives you during a fast. It's not for everybody, but those who succeed will tell you of all the benefits.

Bad, it actually will have the reverse effect , if you are seeking to be healthy and lose weight. Your body will think it wont be getting any food for awhile and store fat for energy. So when you do eat again your body stores more fat then usual.
