Commerical? As in business organized? No, that's just Americans. Don't confuse Christianity with America: America has a lot of Christians in it, and the Christians have their views influenced by America. The Japanese made the same mistake; they imported Christmas, but not as a religious holiday, but as a commerical holiday. Well, maybe not a mistake: that's the part I like the most too.

The Amish are a form of Christianity, and they're certainly not Commercial. Evangelicism is inheritly a bit commercialized though, I'll give you that, and Christianity is VERY evangelical. Even the non-evangelical christians are!

Christianity is essentially a criminal business enterprise... in fact, it is the world's longest running and most successful Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scam. The product they are selling is the illusion of 'salvation'... and the 'pay plan' doesn't kick in until after you're dead. Meanwhile the victims (having been deceived into believing that it is their God-given duty) are out there recruiting MORE victims. What a racket! FORTUNATELY, it only works on those who are gullible enough, and sufficiently lacking in critical thinking skills, to fall for it. UNfortunately, THAT accounts for about 75% of the population of the USA. (There are a lot more people who DON'T know how to think properly than there are people who DO know how to think properly.) That is why there are a lot more religious people in the USA than there are 'Free-thinkers'... including Atheists. Also, Christians are generally too dense to realize that proselytizing (spreading the 'good news') is a key element of the Christian MLM MARKETING PLAN, which was instituted after Christianity lost the political power that had previously allowed them to simply torture and kill anybody who did not comply. Now, they attempt to just pester people to death, through persistent obliviousness and obnoxiousness. If you stop to think about it, you will realize that Christians are very much like the Borg, on Star Trek Next Generation: "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile." I would not be surprised to learn that thoughts of Christianity provided the 'creative spark' for the Borg concept.

Interestingly, statistics on supernatural beliefs count the USA on a par with backward, developing Third World nations, rather than among modern, advanced industrial powers.

I don't mean to attack Christians (or the previous answer), but what do you mean Christians never hurt anyone?

More people have been killed in the name of God than another other idea to have ever crossed human conception. I am not blaming any particular religion, but because you are obviously Christian what about the Crusades? What about the inquisitions? What about religious profiteering during the Black Death epidemic?

Those are just the tip of the iceburg of hurt inflicted by Christians. What about the hurt inflicted by that same God's followers who call themselves Jewish or Islamic?

No it's not just you. Unfortunately, Christianity has become very commercial with many churches selling the Gospel by way of books, cd's, even movies, as if the Bible is not enough. And many pastors drive expensive cars and even own private jets, all at the congregation's expense. I don't think this is what Jesus had in mind when he appointed his twelve disciples.

No offense intended, but it must be you. True Christianity has no place in commercials or commercialism. It represents a place to die, in order that the life of God may manifest.

Not any more so than any other religion.

Actually, think about it....Christian Science tries to appeal to the rich and popular. True Christians stand up for beliefs even if it offends someone. Most other people just do what's popular.

Just like with any other product....you have to market your merchandise (embellish on the good aspects while minimizing the bad) if you want to sell it to people.
