I mean if you get sick, you take medicine... you cling to life like it is all there is, yet if you die there is some place SO much more wonderful to go to. Why don't you just let it go. Be less careful. Don't look both ways when crossing the street, close your eyes and walk and if its your time, God will take you. If not, he will let you by right?

You should be in a hurry to get some place that awesome.

Great Point! I think heaven is a "wishful thinking" place where it is absolutely boring and pointless. Like I have said before, nothing but happy white robed people playing harps for eternity. I would rather stay alive, thank you.
Also, I feel that even though people have the belief of heaven being such a great place, we are attached to our loved ones on earth and are naturally afraid of the unknown.

because despite how much faith someone has....everyone has a secret fear of uncertainty.

I think this answer (see above) is really a just answer. It has a lot of validity to it, b/c we are all afraid of the unknown. And we all would like to know a little more about the hereafter. But, since is so foreign and unknown it really scares us.

But, the reason we try so hard to stay here is that we have to make a good impression while we are here. If we decide to just let it go and as you say "be less careful and cross the street", then that would be a form a suicide wouldn't it. And that goes against the whole concept of religion, which is the basic cocept of heaven and hell. The term of heaven and hell is derived from religion. This life is a test for the next life.

two arguments.

one, true, heaven is an awesome place. And people cling onto life only because they dont consciously realise/believe in this awesome place. Or cant imagine what it would be like, and thus give life on earth the benefit of the doubt.

But I dont think eating medicine when you are sick = clinging onto life. There is a reason why God put us on earth and we only go to heaven(,or hell) when we die. And so we must finish our course on earth, and do what God wants us to do, before God brings us to heaven.

Part of getting to heaven is to be constructive people (for Christians). We can't get there just by wishing. We have to follow Jesus and His teachings.

I actually do want to go to heaven as soon as possible,, it's so much better than here,,, butwhat you suggest is suicide and that is forbidden. If it is God's will that I am still here, then I accept that. If God has work for me to do here, like answer this message, then I accept that and do the best I can here till my work is done.

I am in a hurry to get some place awesome. but it is like you are when you are anticipating something great that you are planning,, you can't make tomorrow come sooner.

The nature of God's creation is to stay alive in this body as along as possible. After all, true Christians don't wish to go to heaven alone so it is important that we stay on the earth as long as possible so we can tell other that the Lord Jesus Christ died for their sins. Look at what the Apostle Paul says about going to heaven or staying on the earth. Philippians 1: 23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Philippians 1: 24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Because God wants us to be here as long as possible, and if there's a way to keep doing that -- by taking medicine, for instance, or having surgery -- then it's best to do it.

Heaven is "that awesome" -- but only after we've lived here for as long as God wills it, however long that is.

Christ never taught us to hasten our deaths in order to get to Heaven sooner. Nor did He teach us to avoid doing things, like taking medicine and whatnot, to shorten our earthly lives.

Instead, He taught us that Heaven is the place for His "good and faithful servants" to go. We have to be good and faithful until the very end of life on this earth -- whenever that is for each of us.

Because the longer you stay alive, the better your chances of getting into heaven, so everyone should indeed want to stay alive as long as possible.
Why did you think God put us here if we could just go right to heaven when we die?
We're each here to live out our salvation, which we have to work hard to earn.
None of us knows when God is going to call us; we just know that it could be at any time, and since most of us aren't ready for our judgement, most of us that realize this want to live as long as possible to purify ourselves as much as we can.
God is merciful like you describe, but He is also just.

Yes, I too have heard that heaven is an awesome place. I suppose by delaying my entrance, I am just wanting to be extra sure that I make it.

There is some good assurance in 1 John 5:13.

Because life is pretty awesome and great too. Can you imagine how a typical day would be if the world was like you suggest? Wow, I had a great day today! I only ran over 5 people!!!

Life is a precious gift, not just something to be thrown away.

What your proposing is for us to kill ourselves so we can go to heaven quickly, right ?That would be suicide,Something that god is against. While were in this earth we have to live life, which means we do everything a normal human being would do,minus sinning against the lord. And while were on this earth we go out to the world and preach the gospel to those willing to hear. And after all that, our reward is heaven.
