14 year old schizoid. People find me strange. They don't know I have SPD. Should I tell them so they realise its not my fault?

I think it's best to tell people you know well and spend a lot of time with about it so that they can understand you better. I don't think it's necessary to tell everyone about it though, it's none of their business.

One thing that you will have to get used to and learn to live with is people finding you strange. Us schizoids are unusual people, we feel differently about things and behave different from most people, so it's normal that people find us strange. They just don't understand us.

Just try to not let people's opinions get to you. You are who you are and they should accept you for who you are and if they don't, that's their problem. You're not a freak, you're just different.

It's up to you. You may want to discuss this with your therapist or psychiatrist before making a decision.. 14 is a difficult age to fit in and have others like you. Just be yourself, and there will be those that stick by you regardless if you have SPD or not.....

I stand by the theory of telling people about sutff like that as soon as I start to get close to them. You cant change who you are and they have to make the choice to love you with your condition and get the hell out of your life. I tell people fairly quickly because I figure, then, if they cannot accept me I will have been saved the pain of losing someone close to me.

Good luck to you, dear.

You really have been diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder?? If so, you may want to share this with your closest friends. I would not tell everyone you meet. It's none of their business.
