Blasphemy denotes the derogation of the honour due to a creature as well as of that belonging to God.

The unforgivable sin (blasphemy of the Holy Ghost) is denying that there is a God and denying God access to your life. It is unforgiveable because it means that you have made a clear choice NOT TO BELIEVE and that you will readily accept the consequences thereof.

Blasphemy means taking the name of the Lord in vain. Supposedly, the only unforgivable sin in Christianity is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit, although it says in the second commandment that "The Lord will not hold him guiltless who taketh His name in vain". Just another of those unanswerable questions in the Bible I guess

Blasphemy is the defamation of the name of a god. These may include using sacred names as stress expletives without intention to pray or speak of sacred matters.

Sometimes blasphemy is used loosely to mean any profane language, for example in "With much hammering and blasphemy, the locomotive's replacement spring was finally fitted."

Blasphemy is ireverence to God especially in speach and the fact that he is the highest in the order makes it unforgivable. More so, against the holy spirit.

In the context of scripture, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit seems to be attributing His work to Satan instead of to God.

Specifically, Jesus was referring to His own identity as the Son of God. The religious leaders were accusing Him of doing miracles through the powers of the devil rather than the Holy Spirit. When a person turns to Jesus Christ by faith, trusting in Him as Savior, they acknowledge His workings as divine. The evidence is within them.
