World war II started with the invasion of Poland, so on that level it would seem that another global-conflict could start from a small level invasion. However, Poland had powerful allies (Britain, France) who declared war on Germany after the Germans invaded Poland. If Lebanon had powerful allies with mutual-protection agreements, then a large-scale war could have started, but this did not happen.

The conflict in Lebanon isn't even taking place over an entire small country. Let alone an entire large country, let alone a region, let alone a continent, let alone the world.

So in short: No.

We're not very close at this point. The only way it would become a world war would be if a country in every continent in the world (except Antartica of course) became involved.

The comment above has to be the stupidest I have ever heard.

You think all the terrorist ogranizations should be annihilated but yet you arent willing to join the military and you dont want anyone else to. You wonder why the terrorist groups are going to keep growing..

The real question to ask is why people keep suggesting this?
