The law in Arkansas says that you have to be 21 years old and have at least on kid to get your tubes tied. You also have to sign a statement at least three months before the procedure or they won't do it - the catch - you have to be 21 to sign the form too!

Yeah I in the same boat right now also I have a 15 month old and I'm pregnant. I asked my doctor and he said because of my age he will not tie my tubes because he doesn't want me back here in 4 or 5 years asking him to untie them. He said he only does it if your close to 30 and 3 kids or more. So I counts me out I'm only 20. He also told me I would be very hard to find a doctor to do it at my age. Well good luck

I am from Jersey as well. My best friend wanted her tubes tied after 2 children but being that she was only 22, they didnt want to do it because they felt she was too young to decide that was teh end of her child bearing days. She is now pregnant with #3 and is 24 years old. Her doctor agreed to tie her tubes after this pregnancy. I think you need to talk to your doctor about it. I know certain religous hospitals (such as St Peters in New Brunswick) wont do it unless medically necessary (such as a hysterectomy).

Best of luck. And congrats on your 2 babies! Take all the help you can get girl! email me if you need to talk i'm 23 with a 20 month old. :)

Just FYI regarding your answer about the pacifiers, when babies cry, it's not always because something is wrong. Have you ever heard of colic? It's when a baby cries for long periods of time, for no reason at all. Sometimes it's linked to gas or other things, but sometimes there isn't a reason. Some babies have it so bad, they cry all the time, even when they're fed and changed.

i do know here in california, it's three PREGNANCIES, not three children that qualifies you to get your tubes tied or over the age of 27. Check your doctor again. It's quite possible any miscarriages may be included in this number.

Sorry to be so blunt but this was clarified to be by my doctor.

Check with your local Planned Parenthood clinic. They don't care how old you are, as long as you're over the age of consent. They typically WANT you to have at least one kid (which you qualify for) and would like you to be over the age of 25, but if you really WANT a tubal and understand all of the ramifications of it, they'll typically do it.

Because of your age and because this is the second baby..social services may be able to help you with this..and no you can't do this on your own, it's a major surgical procedure

I dont know about in NJ but in Ohio theres quite a few places. Usually, at least in Ohio, almost any doctor will do it unless they dont believe in it at all, so im sure there is somewhere in Nj that will do it.
