Religion makes people stupid. There are lots of people in power right now who use this stupidity to maintain their own power. How else could Dubya & his cronies remain in power? They're completly incompetant & evil, yet they get the very people they screw over riled up over gay marriage! It's a giant distraction.

There seems to be a good amount of misguided people asking loaded questions on this website!!

First, according to the Bible it's a sin to be gay. It's that simple.

Second, there are a lot of non-religious bigots who just don't like it.

Whether you believe you were born that way or became that way, everyone has an opinion and everyone has scientific evidence to back it up. The fact that it became such a hot button issue in the past is all politics. Not religion or anything else.

Pay attention to the next election. Last time it was homosexuals, but there were far more important issues at hand that got no mention. During the primaries this year, it was immigration, even though there were other more important issues going on. Come November, there's going to be something else that gets conjured up and everyone is going to buy into the debate.

As far as homosexuality goes, don't judge religious people for their beliefs. Judge bigotry and prejudice as an action, not a group of people.

Oh, and killing in the name of God isn't acceptable either...

Many of us are so concerned because our childrens future lies ahead. Right now it's a big thing for votes... if we can somewhat stop it from being the norm for our children. I don't want my kids to think this is an OK thing because it is clearly stated in the bible that it is not OK for a man to lay with a man as he would/should with a woman. It also says to go forth a reproduce (multiply)Now it doesn't say a woman can't... just men. At the same time we know it's a choice they'll have to make but if it's not the norm maybe they'll see less of it and think less of the act it's self (not the people) cause we are all sinners. It's no different than wanting your child to see a murder (most of us wouldn't want that either). There are also many health hazards with homosexuality... that we want gone and not in our childrens future either... hope that helps. We can't stop murders no more than we can stop a person from being gay, but we can try to put some kind of limit on it. Marriage is sacred and if your doing what God says don't how is that sacred. Not to mention that many feel that God will get them for accepting this as the norm.

I think that the problem lies with the fact that murder is already a crime, christians can't go out and stop murderers in the act or anything to stop them from killing people. Their hands are pretty much tied on that issue as far as getting invloved into it. The homosexual thing is a sin the same as murder, but christians can get involved in that. They are trying to keep them from letting same sex marriages become legal or a law. They have the capability of getting more involved in stopping homosexuals than the murderers.

That's an interesting question. I've wondered why also. It does seem that there is so much concern about sex and so little concern with violence. War is OK but the gay couple down the street should be chased out of town - odd logic.

There is more and more research showing that some sexual tendencies are genetically influenced. Maybe sex is closer to home for most people and brings up deep-seated psychological issues that they can't deal with.

Personally I'm offended by Gay Pride parades and such, just as I am by heterosexuals who don't have the decency and good manners to keep their private lives private.

"There, but for the grace of God, am I." For too many people it's easier to condemn others than to face the hypocrite in the mirror.

Dear Agnostic Mom,

Thank you for the great question. I can only answer for myself. My primary concern is for myself, and my family; and then to the community as a whole. I am concerned for all grave sin, not the least of which are sexual sins. This includes all sex that is not exclusively monogamous between one man and one woman in a marriage commitment for life.

I understand that homosexuality gets a lot of attention. I would suggest that is in no small part due to the fact that there is a concerted effort among some to normalize homosexual relationships in society. Be that as it may, all sin is bad, as it separates us from our Creator, and hurts the ones around us.

Embrace the Grace,

Well, I really don't know, but I think ( my personal opinion ) that everyone ( almost ) admits that murderers are criminals, that they do something wrong. There is practically no argument there, but regarding homosexuals, at least in this country, they are considered as superior beings, sacred ones, above the mere mortals. That point of view concerns religious people

I am a christian and am not concerned with homosexuals. I care that people want others to think they are born with it. The traits they say make people PRONE to homesexuality are found in vast numbers of people (men and women). It doesn't make them have an "alternative lifestyle", that is their choice. Much like a child desides to lie to their parents about doing something wrong.

I have had several friends who are homosexuals. I love them just the same as I would any other friend. I do not approve of their sinful actions, but I certainly don't condemn them. That isn't up to me to deside, they will have to square that with their maker.

The motto "Hate the Sin, Love the sinner" sums up what Christianity is truelly about.

Great generalization there. I am religious, and I am not concerned with homosexuals.

I am concerned about murderers and other criminals. I am concerned about the standards and morals of the society in which we are raising our family, in general.

And, for that reason, I volunteer with an organization to promote literacy, as well as being the troop leader for my daughter's girl scouts, so my actions follow my beliefs.

Because you don't know someone is a murderer until they murder and by the time they find out the person is in jail but homosexuals are out there and you know they are homosexuals and you are able to come in contact with them and talk to them. However, a lot of churches do have prison ministry where they do talk to murderers and other criminals.

Because most view homosexuality as some sort of contagious disease. They think that straight people can "catch" homosexuality from gays.

As for murders, practically everyone (religious or not) already sees that as bad, so there's not as much worry about people thinking it's okay.
