YES! When you have religion in your life, you take it too seriously and have to be depressed all the time. Life ain't pullin' ME down!

We are talking billions of women now, by taking women with an atheist spiritual orientation and women who believe in some form of Supreme Being (indeed, I would suggest that we are talking about most of the women on Earth with these two categories, right?--about 3.1 billion human beings, in other words...). So I suspect that there is absolutely no way to assess the truth status of your claim or answer your question, because of the enormity of the statistical sample you would need to get some kind of validity.
I'll go out on a limb here with a suggestion that might be radically, mind-blowingly obvious and pragmatic: the capacity for humor, or for humorlessness, is in some theistic and some atheistic women; the capacity for resilience (a "good outlook on life") may be present in any given theistic or atheist woman or it might not; these are more about how fulfilling one finds one's particular belief system and how much it links to functional life values, rather than the choice of the belief system per se. Can't generalize on this scale. More resilient, stronger coping women, regardless of theist/atheist status, are more resilient and cope better with stressors; less resilient, more dysthymic women, regardless of theist/atheist status, do not.

Most of my Wiccan friends are the same way, always going through life with a positive outlook, and always facing challenges head-on with the knowledge that they can make things better. I don't think it depends so much on religion though as it does a person's faith - in themselves, in those around them, and for some people but not all, in a higher power.

I think it just depends on the woman and their own belief system--if you don't believe in a higher power you don't have anyone to answer to--if they do believe then some may have a guilty conscience and may lack a sense of humor--but i wouldn't make a blanket statement that all believers lack a sense of humor

I think you can find both kinds of people among atheists and non atheists.
I'm an atheist woman, I have a sense of humor but am also often depressed. At least I can laugh at things that go wrong, though ;)

yes, we definitely have a better sense of humor and have a better outlook on life...its mainly because we're not constantly worried about not doing certain things because theyre supposedly "sins". we know how to enjoy life and we do whats fun.

if u have christ in your heart u would know that the happiness of this world is temporary ..... and the happiness which we strive for is completely eternal... so u ask me whos happier ??? i would say a person who knows christ ... sense of humor... there is people that actually are pretty boring who are believers but personally i dont think that matters

Most christian women I've run across (including on here) seem to be secret perverts.
Big surprise.
Atheist women are more fun. At least you can have an intelligent conversation with them.

I don't know about other women but I can say with all honesty, that I was a very sad and miserable person before I became a Christian.
