to topdog: artificial blood like salines?...this is bollocks saline is salty water it has no oxygen carrying capability, it is used to increase a blood volume but is of no use in low red cell number which is what the problem is with patients who may have been bleeding from an ulcer in their gut, require surgery there is no such thing as "dry" surgery, so you cant just use salines to replace blood, and the use of bypass machine im sorry to say can be used but youll find it tied up in cardiothoracics as they actually need the machine to mend a damaged heart....so get your facts straight...saline does not equal red blood cells it can only increase the total volume to increase blood pressure.

they belive the bible avocates the blood of the body as either unclean, or non transferrable. what teh bible says is... dont eat meat... its palestine, so a veggie diet would be a good idea. they decided that it means no bloood shall pass from man to man, personally i disagree, life is precious, all life...and im pretty sure god, if he truly exists, would like us to keep on living...
what they dont tell you is their word of god was written by charles taze russell in the 1920's. he was a pacifist, (read coward) who didnt want to go fight for his country and die on the somme. (ww1) he was a philanthropist.

in the old testement blood is sacred and had to be poured out on the ground. It was not to be eaten or used. blood was sacred and only used in worship ie the pass over in eygpt and the last supper. Today since the introduction of transfusions a transfusion of blood would be a use not acceptable in the scriptures both old testament and new. There are alternatives such as the bypass machine and artifical blood such as salines. there is no such instruction with organs and as a result a witness may agree to a transplant with the use of a bypass machine. the interesting thing is that the results are often very good and recovery faster with non blood products and there is less risk of infection. a surgeon has to be more careful when he operates and the other interesting point is that they often get to jump the nhs queue as an op on one of them often means going to a town where there is an consultant who will operate and they as a group have a very good team who liase with the nhs doctors to get the treatment they need. perhaps whoever wrote the bible knew what the nhs was going to be like

They say ingesting blood which has the life force is bad so im going to hell for eating the occasional black pudding. But surely organ donation is the same as eating in the sense you are assimilating a piece of another body into your own for the purpose of sustaining life. They're religious nut jobs. In defence tho, their stance on blood donation, upheld by many american courts has pushed surgical techniques to the point of keyhole surgery which minimises blood loss. Blood transfusion is frought with danger from inadequate screening. That has benefitted us all esp in light of infected blood.

There is a quote in the Bible about not consuming blood. They see blood transfusions as consuming blood although for all intensive purposes they are not. You can receive a organ transplant without receiving a blood transfusion. However, many times doctors have received intervention from courts to do a blood transfusion on children to save their lives.

They base it on the Old Testament when its speaks about blood being unclean. It's really a silly reference for a belief in blood transfusions since they are speaking about kosher eating, not blood transfusions.

who in their right mind would stand and watch their child die rather then allow a blood transfusion, jvs are nothing but crack pots, i would die for my kids and do everything poss to keep them safe, when they come to my door i just tell them to go away as i don't agreed with their beliefs that does the trick.

I didn't know they accepted Organ donation. Individuals might even when their church teaches otherwise. I thought the church was against both.
Perhaps nicht.

They don't accept organ donation. Unless they've changed their policy as they so often do.
