Poor people have things and money, they just have less of it. So a thief can steal from many poor people and get as rich as stealing from a few rich people. It might be more work, but poor people have less extra money to put into security, so there is less risk.

You won't get rich by stealing from a few poor people. But you will if you steal from a lot of them.

The poor do have some money. I used to property manage. It would amaze me how many couldn't pay the rent, but they had new furniture, or a big screen TV or other luxury. I don't have a problem bettering their daily existence but not on the backs of others.

One doesn't. One gets rich by selling something that even the poor want to buy and can do so. Examples abound, so I'm not even going to try to give any.
