My dog ran into the woods and he hasnt been back for about a day. Ive been searching everywhere. I dont know where to look. I could go around the neighborhood and put up fliers, but its not a big neighborhood and i dont think anyone would pick him up, even though he is very cute. What should i do to find him?

He has run off into the woods before and has always found his way back, but sometimes he dosnt come home for a few days.

First: DON'T GIVE UP! My dog went missing for a whole month.
Second: Canvas the area with those fliers! (Use tape to put them up, rather than staples or tacks. Those can be dangerous to any utility workers who may need to climb that pole. Thank you, I've been a phone installer for 28 yrs. & appreciate any opportunity to share this information) Take fliers to Vetrinarian offices, as well.
Third: Contact animal control. Get your dog registered on the books as missing. Even if not licensed, or microchipped, or tatooed, if the dog is brought in, they will check the registers.
Fourth: Visit your regional animal shelters EVERY DAY, as well as stopping by the vet's offices.
Fifth: Place an ad in your local paper. Most will post lost/found ads for free. Then answer all ads which might even remotely sound like your pup.
Additionally: Place a worn sweatshirt somewhere along a trail where your dog can find it. Don't grab one out of the laundry, it needs to have your scent on it - so put it on & work up a good sweat, okay?!? Then check that location, as well. And routinely call your dog from the point where it went missing. Try to do this at the same time of day every day.

Try calling him in the woods where he ran off, run away dogs in the woods can be dangerous. Get some friends together and fan out in the woods. Sometimes dogs find their way back, but not always. The more people looking the better chance you have to find him.

Post fliers at pet stores and animal clinics also. Call the animal shelther and have a few friends/ family member with you and go search for your dog. Do not go in the wood by yourself, it could be dangerous. And if you ever find him again, you should really keep an eye on him, and get him a name tag.

Call your local animal shelter and post flyers in the neighborhood. Also, take out an ad in the newspaper. Usually, the "lost dog" ads are free. Be sure all your neighbors know your dog is missing.

Organize a search with some friends and neighbors and go into the woods and look for him there since that is where he was last seen. Hope you get the little one back.

put up flyers and organize a search group. go into the woods and call his/her name. bring along its favorite toy so it can possibly smell it. if its a toy that makes noise then shake it squeeze it whatever. just do whatever you can to make it come back. as long as you have a collar on it with info then im sure everything will be okay and you'll get your dog back in no time.

Call the local shelter. Search the woods again. Still keep food and water out for him. And call his name a lot! He might just be lost and scared.

My dogs went missing, here's what we did:

*Put up posters around town, in pet shelters and in small shops or gas stations.
* Post an ad in some of the local newspapers.
*Call around to the local pet shelters and Humane Societies to make sure he's not there and give them a discription or a picture of your cat so if he does come in then they can call you.
*Put posters in your neighbor's mailboxes.
*Tell people! Tell the people you tell to tell other people.
*Use this website that I use when I am trying to find a pet: www.petfinder.com, it will look at all the shelters around to see if there is a pet that matches your seach posted on their wbsite. (but call the shelters too!)
*Go to: http://www.missingpet.net/
*Go to: http://www.missingpets.com/
*Go to: http://www.lostapet.org/newindex.html......
*Go to: http://www.pmia.com/

Have faith, I'm sure your dogs will be fine. My dogs were when we found them. Somebody had kept them and then saw one if our posters and called us. Our dogs were fine. So, after 1-2 weeks we found them, just don't lose faith. I hope you find your dog!

Put something on the ground at the edge of the woods with your scent on it. ie: article of clothing You just might find him lying on it in a day or so.
