Your MOS has to be combat arms to get into ranger school. (this stops women from applying). Depending on your unit, they should be allotted X amount of slots for a class date. There are no required schools prior to this but you must pass the Physical. no big deal if you are in shape. Most units (24th ID) have a RIP course Ranger indoctrination Program which help you get prepared for the school. It is all about Mental preparedness. Good Luck!

If you graduate you are authorized to wear the tab regardless of MOS.

Getting into the school is all a matter of whether your unit wants to pay for it and make do without you for the next 3-14 months. I doubt your unit would let you go, your best bet would be to reenlist for 11B and go from there.

If you go as a tanker, and you are not used to the big green tick it will be the hardest thing you will have ever attempted. Good luck.
