a lot of people want religion back in school, they want our teachers to teach creationism in place of or alongside evolution. what about the many people who don't believe in creationism?

and wouldn't that be forcing your religion onto others?

i know a lot of people are going to say teaching evolution is against what they believe too but remember, evolution is not a part of religious faith.

correct, creationism (or intelligent design as it has been renamed) is not science. the "science" of creationism fails peer review and it not generally accepted.

however, xians KNOW that, so they take another approach - trying to declare atheism a religion and asserting that evolution is the dogma of that religion. nonetheless, their logic is flawed:

atheism is a religion like baldness is a hair color.
atheism is a religion like not collecting stamps is a hobby.

atheism is a lack of religion. atheists do not accept the existence of god due to the overwhelming lack of evidence. it is true that some atheists do contend theie is no god, but neither agree with or speak for them.

so they don't agree with the theory of evolution (the mechanism, reason behind it), but they can not credibly deny that it has occurred. there is VERIFIABLE EVIDENCE. REASON to accept it

even so, the theory is contested, and bot just by religious types. but that's what makes science so great - it's a self-correcting process that is open to change. can't say that for religion.

As a Catholic, I was always taught theistic evolution, or also know as evolutionary creationism. This pretty much suggest that God has guided the evolution of life all the way up to humans.
In other words, God has a method to his madness. I am proud to say that the Catholic Church has learned its lesson about fighting scientific reasoning. Rather, the Church has come to relize that in order to fully understand life a person needs both faith AND reason. Now I know this is not what everbody wants, but it is good enough for me. I get the best of both worlds.

I believe a parent has the right and duty to see they are taught the way they want them to be!

Many do not care, most of the others are christian or at least xchristian and you find only 1 or 2 that are against God.
So should not the minority find there own place since this is a land of the majority?

We will not tolerate the "teaching " of delusional superstitionism in the public schools and as for that manure pile called Creationism, you can shove that where the Sun don't shine.

There is religion in government funded schools.
It is secular humanism.
And yes, it does force itself on those who do not believe in it.

As to evolution, it takes a lot of faith to believe ia THEORY is true. ; )

I think the easy solution to this problem is to offer a philosophy class. In such a class, one would eventually study various religious philosophers and their ideas. Hopefully the creationists would feel a little better.

For some reason that isn't on the bible.

I will home school before I will allow my children to grow up in an environment where superstition is valued as much as cold hard facts.
