Nope, being baptized doesn't make anyone a follower of God. Its a choice to follow Jesus that YOU have to make, nobody can force you or coerce you or do it for you. It's a personal decision you make or don't make.

Why are you an atheist? Why worry about God? Some of the answers you have are good but, all children under 13 are Gods. After the age of 13 its up to the individual, you are confused about things. Iam not condeming you like some of the others. Jesus died on the cross for you, just because you dont want to belive in God doesnt make him go away. Your parents have some Godliness in them to have you babtized. Whatever happened between you and God can be fixed! Just because they babtized you doesnt make you a Christian after you are 13.
You can sit in the garage does that make you a car?
Look God still loves you, he will try to bring you home. But your heart can be turned to stone, obivoulsy he's working for you or you wouldnt be asking these types of questions. I know your belief feels like the way to go, but why deny the chance of escaping this earth and the world we live in. Going to a paradise of nothing but love and kindness. Happiness is always better then sadness, dont you love your parents? Your decison about atheism is proballly killing them, if you love them you should think about their feelings instead of just yours. Think about you are not the only one in the family. But it's your decison, what will happen when you choose Hell istead of Heaven? Just because a man claims there is no God, it doesnt change the facts that God exsists. The stories in the Bible are true by others witnessing the examples of Gods power. Not just one man but hundreds of thousands. Email me if you have other questions I would love to help. Jesus died especially for you, and your unbelif.
God is real or you wouldn't have asked your question.
God loves you and will bless you if you would give him a chance,

Infant baptism was introduced by the early, persecuted Church who never knew if/when they would be called on to die for their faith. They wanted their children to be part of the Church should such an eventuality ever arise.
Infant baptism is a statement of intent. It is often said that God has lots of children but no grandchildren - every generation has to make their own decision, no-one can do it for them. Your baptism was a promissory document which cannot become valid until you sign it. You sign it by expressing your own faith in the same beliefs your parents had when they requested your baptism.
You become a Christian by conscious decision - not by having water sprinkled on you as a baby while your adoring family go,"OOOO - how cute!"
So God doesn't see you as a follower - but he won't stop hoping!

I have a better question to pose to you. Are you sure you're an atheist if a question about your childhood causes you to pose questions as if there is a God? I believe you should address your own thoughts on this. Take time to consider how you feel and be open minded so that you may, in time, decide how you feel about why it worries you.

You are loved in God eyes but as far as being a follower no because until you yourself ask Jesus into your heart and realize that he died for you then you are truly missing out and the fact that you are even asking this makes me feel like there is hope for you still Good Luck

If you were a true atheist in your heart then "it wouldn't bug you"
at all.
There is still something in you that realizes that god is real.
If this universe was made from chaos then it would be unknowable and science wouldn't work.(Every time you did an experiment you would get a different answer, chaos)
The truth is this is an ordered universe with a propose.
Who do you think organized it.

There is no such thing as god for atheists. So basically your parents had some guy drop some water on your head and draw a cross when you were a baby. That's all that meant and that's all that happened.

Your lack of understand about the nature of God is incredible.
God embraces those who want to follow him. Those who don't, he still loves them and is waiting for them, but he leaves them to make their own choices in life. If you are an atheist why are you asking questions about God? Leave God alone, forget him!
Live your life the way you want to. If you one day decide to believe in him he will welcome you, in the meantime go do something else instead of being bothered by other people's beliefs.

As there is no god, how could it see anything? You can get a certificate of de-baptism from The American Atheists and send a copy to the church where the barbaric rite was performed on you, for their records .

Each denomination has a different answer to that question (just like they have problems agreeing on other parts of the religion). I had one Christian tell me that I'm going to heaven "whether I like it or not" simply because I was baptized and went through confirmation.
