if a marine engineer's name is not been declared by DOD for one and half month does it mean hes not dead ?

my friend is an marine engineer ,hes not in contact with us for more then 3 months ...one of our friend went to Iraq to inquire however he was told tat our marine friend was shot in head and chest and he slipped to coma ...on 16th june my friend who had gone to inquire was told tat he could not survive the wounds ......but even now DOD has not declared our friend's name in casualties list ...so did they jst try to mislead our friend with the fear of spying ...or something like tat

There could be a number of things. If the soldier's family asked for information to not be released to the public then they are obliged to not let you know anything. The same would be true if the soldier him/herself asked similarly. There may be other reasons, but I don't know them.

It shouldnt take that long but DOD is not going to declare him dead to the public until all family notifications have been made.

I am sure the family would rather here from the military its self rather then CNN

if in fact that is the very person they will contact the family or next of kin first.And you just never know until it happens no matter what someone said. there could also be many reasons for him not to be in contact with anyone right now that also depends on his duty. things change and they dont have to answer to anyone about that either.
