Without cutting it? I am trying to grow mine out after having it really short for ages, but now it's driving me mad! The Japanese cartoon character look is not a good one for me. It's just around my ears and in my neck. I have to walk to work as well so anything that will accomplish a result that stays when I step outside will be soooooooooooo much appreciated.

Hmmm, L'oreal hair putty ... Sounds simple enough. Guess Boots before work it is then.

Oh, and I've tried gel, that just sets the flick!

Wear a hat?

Seriously, though:

If you work with a hat you can really give your hair some movement and bounce. This summer, hats look great, and you can get them by literally walking into a shop and buying one.Just do it. Part your damp hair in one-inch square sections, apply a defining product to the area and twirl hair in the same direction it naturally wants to go around your finger. Let it set for 10 minutes. When the hair dries you can "comb" your waves lightly with your fingers. Then, place a hat on top.

hello my hair kinda like yours too. this is what i do:
Wash my hair then leave to dry naturally, so its not fluffy!
Separate and straighten it with straighteners.
Take it down and i rub some Garnier Fructis Style Texurising Gum (its a green and yellow tub, it says surf hair on it its about 3 or £4.99) between my fingers and pull my fingers through my hair. it also smells yummy!
Then the tops of my layers, I flick it out using my straighteners, then put some V05 Extreme Style Matt Clay on the ends of my fingers and put it on the flicked out bits and it should stay most of the day, if not, just touch up with the V05.
Hope this helps it works with mine!!

Nip to Claire's Accessories and get yourself a basketful of clips and the like. Always good for that horrible in-between stage. Otherwise, a bit of wax and experimentation. Or hats!
