My husband was having problems by the time I met him, he was in late 50's. I was mid-40's. At first it was disappointing to me ... as he had not warned me ... but I loved him so much, I chose for it not to be an issue. That was five years ago.
I knew that it was disturbing to him, so I made it a point not to insist on being intimate (I happen to have a much stronger sex drive than he does), so that he would not feel pressured. On his part, he pleasures me in other ways, and we have worked out a good compromise whereas we now are both relatively satisfied with out love life.
We have had our moments and times that we had to talk things out (we are firm believers in lots of open communication, and if you can't work something out by talking, you keep talking til you can). By being open with his fears (me leaving because of it), and my occassional frustration, and dipping it all in a super sense of humour, we have a wonderful intimacy on many levels that far surpasses that of just being physical.
He has considered Viagra, etc., but I have asked him not to, for three reasons. 1) he is only doing it for me, and I know he doesn't like taking drugs of any kind, 2) there are potential side effects, and though not common, I don't want him to take the chance; and 3) I am content with our love life ... very satisfied in fact, and see no reason at this point. This of course is a personal choice between a couple, just sharing with you mine.
Hope this is a bit helpful to you.
Blessings.

Usually starts at the age of 50, can very well be solved with love , being kind to the male by soothing & asking him not to have anxiety. A good & longer foreplay has solved the problem.

About 45-47. It was due to his high blood pressure medication. We switched him off of Lipitor to a natural statin. He changed from Lisinopril to Benecar, and he started eating the same stuff I was (I am diabetic, controlled by diet), except he still does caffeine and some sugar.
Whatever we did seems to have worked. We never chose to use the Viagra the doctor prescribed, as it sounded like it gives you high blood pressure.
