Take in a shot of hydrogen peroxide, swish, hold as much in as is comfortable and brush with regular baking soda. Do this at least once a day.
You can alternate the peroxide with Listerine every now and then.
I had an aunt that swore by this and I was amazed once I tried it.

Crest White Strips are good - you could try those first. But -- if you have deep staining, you may want to invest in a very fast, effective treatment at your dentist's office. There are different treatments, for example "Zoom Whitening". It is fast and effective, but pretty expensive. Dental insurance does not cover it, because it is cosmetic. However, if you want a movie star smile, you could try it :)

Go get the crud cleaned off of your teeth. White Strips, etc., can't even get to your teeth through the layer of stuff that has built up from smoking. They wont' do any good until you have your teeth cleaned professionally. After that, you might not even need to use them.

Believe it or not, strawberries will help with the whitening, if you are up for strips Rembrandt just came out with their own and you don't have to worry about drying your teeth completely before putting them on.. they also have some nicotine mouthwash that helps with nicotine stains..
