I would suggest never petting her when she is excited... this does not mean not pet her but wait for her to be taking a nap then pet her.. or she is quietly laying around while you watch tv... she will present the times. you will notice she will stop because she is not excited when she gets it... If you continue petting her while she is doing this behavior you are encoroging it.....as time goes on she will start to calm down over all and stop the behavior...
Some one else said that she needs a trainer.... no dog need a trainer... The need a PACK LEADER....
dogs will always need want and will have a pack leader... You can either take that roll or let the dog fill the role.. witch they dont want to do the just have instincts saying well if they dont lead someone has to. training is somting that comes after pack leadership is established....everything you do you do not ask you jsut do... a claw shape hand(bite) to the neck should be your reprimand or a tug to the side wiht the leash.....Your dog will do what it is asked if only you tell them not ask them... never waiver....if you say sit and they dont next put them there.... if you ask them for room to awnser the door dont open it till your dog gives it to you. If you lead they will follow. Just speak in bodylanguage.
NEVER EVER FORGET THE POWER OF THE WALK......
she is young and has lots of energy... walk her and make her stay behind yyou now while she is a pup put the lead high on the head it is the most sensitive spot and when she trys to sniff or wander away or get scared jsut a quick tug to the side will snap her out of it and she will learn quickly what is expexcted on the walk... you want to nurture the calm state of mind and correct any excitement.
Ig nore her or put her in a sit.... Notice i said PUT her in a sit do not say noting jsut do it... pack leaders dont ask.....
good luck and I hope this helped a littel

That doesn't sound like enough food for a Lab Mix to be honest. I fed my Weimaraner 3 cups of food a day morning noon and night. Look on the back of the bag and see her age and her weight and it'll tell you how much to feed as she gets older, split it into 3 portions and that's what you feed. Is there a reason you're feeding so late in the evening? It's usually best to NOT put a puppy to bed on a full tank and feeding at 9 pm is a full tank. If you want to be successful at housebreaking you should not feed past 5 pm and get her out a lot before bedtime to ensure she can make it thru 1/2 the night without problems. Good feeding times are 7, 12 & 5. Depending on the food you feed, some foods are All Life Stages which means there is no switching the food ever. However, if you have a "puppy" formula then 12 months is the age you switch to adult food and also cut down on the amount of food fed as a dogs metabolism slows down.

She is probably nervous and has an immature bladder. Don't talk in a high voice and do not yell at her for it..that Will make it worse. feed her treats while you rub her if you think it may be from fear, but most dogs grow out of it. also take her to trainer if you become very concerned about it. If she is fearful at this age she needs trainer so it does not continue. Try www.apdt.com or www.clickerteachers.net

Have you talked to your vet about this behavior? Perhaps they can shed some light on the reason why. Also, watch your dog's body language. as that could give you a clue as to whether she's nervous or afraid, or even happy. Usually this is a behavior of a happy dog, but talk to your vet.

My golden retriever who is going on 2 did that for a while. Mine would even pee when certain people would talk or play with him. He even went pee pee on the vet's arm, you can imagine how I felt. But luckily, he soon grew out of that stage. Just be patient and it will soon be over with.

My puppy used to do that, too. Just get some Dog Books from the library or do some research on the computer.

usually nerves. She should outgrow this trait. my dog piddles when she 1st gets excited. So i try and excite her outside before bringing her in and playing with her. Bigger breeds do tend to out grow the problem.
