So basically, when I turn on my pc, it asks me to chose a version. The options are Windows XP (Boot Screen), Windows XP Profssional, and another Windows XP option. I never had this happen before, it used to go straight to the boot screen and then the log on screen. How can I get rid of this option seletction?

You have a multi boot option there. You need to edit you r confguration to boot to the OS you want.

Did you reinstall Windows by any chance? This will give you this if you installed it multiple times. You can go to System in Control Panel and go to the advance tab and click on startup and recovery. You can manually edit your boot up in there. Just be sure you know what you are doing before you start editing this file. Messing up could cause you to not be able to boot at all. Or you could just choose the option you wanted, and set the time to display OS's to 1. Then it will still show up but only for a second. Hope this helps.

after your system is finished booting, click the start menu, and then the run command. from here, type "c:\boot.ini" (without the quotes) and hit enter. this file contains the versions you see when you turn your system on. you most likely don't need the second entry in the list, so go ahead and delete it. it will look something like this

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP, Pro" /noexecute=optout /fastdetect

It probably has more info in it than i typed here, i just shortened it up a bit. You'll want to delete the whole line, starting with multi, and ending with fast detect, and save the file.

Just be careful to remove the only the second entry and nothing else, otherwise your computer may fail to boot! e-mail me if you want more detailed instructions. k_wane@yahoo.com

This is controlled by a hidden file on your computer called boot.ini.

Somehow a line got added that makes XP think you have more than one operating sytem on the PC. You would need to go in and edit the line in the file.

If you do not edit this file correctly, it will cause your PC not to boot into Windows at all. So I recommend you get someone who is experience to help you with doing this.

this only appears when you install two windows, maybe you recover your computer and put the new installation in other hdd or folder, but if the other xp boot doesn't work you need to format and install the xp again to clear that boot message
