...then who do you beleive created the universe and everything within it. I've always wondered how atheists explained the creation of the universe.

Nobody AND I MEAN nobody knows this. Nobody has proof that God did or didn't make the universe.

(although tbh this question is probably one of the very best in supporting the idea that God really is something that is true)

i before e except after c!!! (with other exceptions of course!!)

I don't believe in God simply because I haven't been given enough compelling EVIDENCE to think that. I haven't been given ANY compelling evidence as to the creation of the universe either or the real truth. In fact, NOBODY KNOWS. So I don't really know who created the universe. It might be God, but I doubt it since that explanation with the Bible and stuff seems unlikely to me. But it could be. Maybe the Big Bang formed it. Maybe scientists will eventually figure it out. I don't NEED to make up something about how I believe something happened. It happened, and I have other things to worry about.

Good question. There is not one human that can disprove there's a God. Most atheists says it's not logical to believe in Him but since there is not evidence to say He doesn't exist then it's not logical to be an atheist. At best ones who don't believe in God should say they are Agnostic.
Science says the Universe came from a 'Big Bang'. Physics shows that an uncontrolled explosion causes chaos (gas cooker exploding doesn't make it more efficient). However a controlled explosion (internal combustion engine) causes order. This calls into question the 'Big Bang'. Who controlled it to cause all the order we see in the Universe and our bodies.
Something to think about.
May I add though that this is a discussion about God not religion. Religion links itself to God but if there is a God it doesn't mean he agrees with the things they do.

And how would you explain who created God? Did God come from nothing? If so, then why can't the universe come from nothing. If something created God then what?

Do you see. The birth of the universe is a mystery but that doesn't mean that the answer is God, we just don't know the answer yet.

It's all to do with science not some mystical person waving his magic around making planets appear from nowhere. That's fairytale stuff. Why can't people accept that, yes the world and the universe is amazing and a mystery, but there are no gods. Get real. P.S. Burtonshaw hit the nail on the head!

I don't believe any deity created the universe and everything in it. I don't know exactly how it happened and I will never claim to know everything but I've read a few good books that make a lot of sense like "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene.

Atheist here - it's not that I choose to not believe in your god, it's that there are no god(s) to believe in. I've never been shown evidence as to the existence of a higher power.

I don't know the origin of the universe, and that's o.k.

The human race has gotten this far without knowing.

Scientist study and research.

Believers think they know, but they just believe.

Intelligent design, creationism, evolution, are all interesting beliefs and theories, but nobody really knows.

When I don't know something, I don't feel the need to "just believe".

I know, because I live it, that belief in things that there is no evidence of, is completely unnecessary for living.

When I was an atheist I dumbly believed in the big bang! I now believe in Intelligent Design! The idea that God was a designer who then helped create I find it hard to believe he created everything from nothing but I do believe he brought everything together to make the universe what it is!

OK so I run the risk of being reported but haven't you heard of evolution, the thing that didn't start wars, that didn't kill millions of people, the thing that treats women as the same as men,the thing that doesn't state you should kill animals in a certain way,the thing that all religious idiots deny, how can you say that god exists because He says he does,OK so this is how you can say this because you have all been brainwashed by your elders, why don,t you people stand back and take a good hard look at the world and see what is happening in the name of your gods, then watch a little bit of television about the lives of real people ,like the tribes of the amazon, who haven't yet evolved into people who can be brainwashed these people live a charmed life because they kill for food and not for any religion,it,s time you all woke up and saw the world for what it is

god, by which definition are you using the term god??

i beleive that it was a collosal matter error, that created this universe, a simple colliding of many an atom, causing such a powerful Electro Magnetic feild that more matter in the surrounding area was pulled into it, creating the sun, also, several of these atoms had already fused. these fused with more fused atoms, craeting the planets in the solar system etc.

we are just an evolutionary mistake, caused from the breeding of other organisms given life by the amount of magnetic and kenitic energy produced in the subsequent collisions.

The "who created God argument" gets us nowhere. Belief in a creator, like the conviction that there is a rational but as yet unkown scientific answer to the question both rely on a kind of faith about problem. At least the atheist won't be able to say I told you so, (unless we survive bodily death without a creator,) but that is another question for someone to ask!
