I am getting a sun conure hopefully. I have had many parakeets before and they don't live long like everyone says they do, mine lived only around 5 months each, don't get a parakeet, if you want a small easy bird then get a cockatiel they are much cooler and better looking and I love when they bob their heads like they are listening to some cool music on an iPod.

I'm taking care of an African Grey. My uncle died and left her to me. She is going to live with a friend of his because I don't like birds. I know from experience:
I had 2 parakeets. One was killed by my cat. The other died in a gas leak. (we weren't home at the time)
I gave away 2 peach faced Lovebirds because I didn't want to take care of them anymore.
My friend gave me her cockatiel because she was moving and it dropped dead the next day.
They are messy, noisy, flying rats. Nope, not a bird person.

My very first bird was Sassy. She was a Lutino, she escaped. Never had that happen again.
Then there was
Kenny(crippled),
Cartman(crippled),
Kisses(sold),
Cuddles(sold),
Beaker(beak messed up),
Christmas(rescue, severly crippled, died),
Mud,
Snowball,
Newspaper,
Spike,
CryBaby(sold),
MelloYello,
Baldie,
Runt,
Roc(rescue, they were going to feed him to a snake), and Speck.
There is also Maggie he is my favorite. He is also a rescue.
They are all Cockatiels.
There is also Luigi the Budgie. There was a SweetPea but he was crippled and sick, he died.
And the last two are African Greys. Beethoven and Gizmo. Boy are they characters.
Oh yeah, a duck who thought he was a chicken. And a bunch of chickens.

I have had many Cockatiels.
The most notable is my "Ms. Sunshine".... she is a very bright yellow lutino who just turned 22. I have had her since she was 3. I also have her daughter Drea' (who is a chubby grey) who I helped her hatch and hand fed her to keep her alive she is 13. And Valentino a 3 yr old male who is a pearly pied hybrid...very pretty...dumb as a rock.
Ms. Sunshine has been there for me through some really tough times. I got her through her pregnancy, and she got me through mine. Both my girls were great companions while I was on bedrest, my husband worked alot, and they kept me calm.
They are truely my best friends. But you have to watch them...they are too smart and charming... they know how to get what they want out of anybody.

I found a baby robin once that had fallen out of its nest...i got to it before my cats could and started to feed it little tiny worms that it thought it could swallow, which it did and kept eating what i gave it. It wasn't a tiny baby but it couldn't fly.
It died the next day...it was upsetting. We were pretty sure that it had broken its neck or spine or something when it fell cus it kept one eye closed all the time and its head like sagged to one side
