It is a 13 year old birthday party

the colors are bright pink, light orange, and lime green.

The party will be during late afternoon/night (ends at 10 pm) and it will be dark for majority of the party. I'm Planning on putting xmas lights up, but how can I hang them creatively?

The party is outdoors.

Please help! If you have suggestions on creative ways to do streamers, ect. or get the birthday person's name in lights, please post!!
dare I say this, but it should remain *fairly* cheap

Any help is appreciated!!!!!!

please don't answer if it will be rude.

So this is a teenager birthday party and outdoor. Now it's summer your colors are just intime. If you have a motif like hawaiian this is something that goes with your colors. Definitelt nice colorful plates, spoon and fork and napkins laid on a lime table cloth . scatter some petals of pink and yellow roses on the floor and on the table. Tiki lights or any available solar lights you got. Then in a bamboo or any plywood use it as a frame for her name where you can put around the lights. i hope you will like the idea. Tip there are a lot of sale outdoor summer stuff at walmart or target.

The easiest way to spell something out with Xmas lights is to mount them in a plywood board. Get a masonite or 1/4 plywood board and write out your words/name. Get a drill bit the approximate size of the lights and drill holes equally spaced into your letters. Push the lights through from the back side and duct tape in place.

A thin 2' x 4' board shouldn't cost you more than $10 at a home depot - decorate the front with paint if you want as well.

How about putting the lights in a tree or two. Maybe even in the bushes if you have them. Streamers, what I used to do for my kids party was take all 3 colors & string them from tree to tree....or how ever you can make it look like thats the "hang out" area. Have a good party!!!

Get a cheap piece of particle board or MDF (medium density fiberboard) at your local hardware store. Drill holes in the board to create the name and then place the individual christmas lights into the holes. (the holes need to be the same size as the lights) and put it up. It will be dark so they should be able to only see the name and you can make it whatever size you want.

With those colors, I think a tropical theme would be nice. At 13 you want to be a little more grown up that in the past. You could find novelty lights at party planning stores -- sometimes at places like Wal-Mart. Party planning stores are great places for inspiration!

Good luck!

i saw this thing on martha stewar(dont laugh) where they wrapped xmas lights around a pole or dowel rod and stacked 4 or 5 paper lanterns on the pole. the picture had several of these surrounding the pool and it looked pretty cool lit up
