First of all, how big are you? Secondly what do you want to use it for?

The general issue British Army Bivi bag is 210 cm / 6'9" long from the foot to the neck and 255 cm / 8'4" long from the foot to the tip of the hood and has a drawstring around the hood and neck. When it is laid flat, it is 2'10" /70cm wide at the foot tapering to 2'7.5" / 80cm in the centre and 4'10" / 147cm at the neck with the hood tapering in.

It is made of gortex and comes in either olive green(Old Type) or Disruptive Pattern Material DPM (new type), making it 100% waterproof.

I have used these for 11 years now and swear by them. I used mine along with a softie 12 in Snowdon last winter in temperatures reaching -15 and didn't have a problem. I have also used it in places like Poland/Kosovo/Bosnia/Iraq and the Jungle and have never got wet or cold yet.

Please take my advise, if you want a Bivi Bag get a British Army General issue one. Don't purchase it from Silvermans as it will cost you £79.99 and has a zip in it?????? they are to expensive and in my opinion robbing you of your money, If you want to buy one please look at e-bay they are going for approx £30.00

I hope this has helped.

Try the army surplus stores! Alternatively, any indoor market has a shop that sells loads of bags - you can get a great big waterproof holdall/backpack/bivi bag type for a tenner. It wont be made of canvas and have camoflage, but it is spacious and cheap.
