what you should do is let the dog meet an older child first. you want the dog to learn that the older children are nice and calm. then after a while you should slowley introduce the dog to a younger child like a nice calm eight year old. after the dog like the eight year old then you coul bring in another calm child but bring in a five year old this time. after your dog is comfortable with that child bring in an older niosey child to kind of scare the dog at first but then get the child to settle down and sit on the floor and let the dog come over when the dog is ready. after the dog is comfortable with that child bring in a niosier and younger child and then ldo the same thing. after this and the dog is comfortable with that child then you keep practing with the dog. after a couple of months of practing with the niosey children try the dog with a baby but keep the dog on a leash on all time of this whole thing and lety the dog sniff the baby when it is asleep then wake up the baby and have it scream and cry and see how that goes

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/XCvCx
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Did somebody own this dog before you? Maybe it's scared of children because it was previously teased and/or otherwise mistreated.
I would take it to obedience training. Maybe they would help and possibly even allow you and your children to be involved in it so you could see what needs to be done.
Good luck!

Do NOT watch the dog whisperer. Scared dogs do not respond well to his tactics, his a negative trainer and you need a positive trainer. Find a trainer at www.apdt.com or http://www.clickerteachers.net/. If he is not snappy with kids go to Toys R US and feed him treats as kids pet him. When he is more comfortable let them feed him treats. Take him to a park and do they same. If he is snappy, you will need more help. You need a behaviorist or an experienced trianer. Do not allow anyone to talk you into punishing your dog for this or he will be worse.

Dogs are usually eager to learn, and the key to success is good communication. Your dog needs to understand how you’d like her to behave and why it’s in her best interest to comply with your wishes.
