The Wal-Marts in Ohio sell beer and other types of alcohol, and today I was looking for some vodka in Allentown, PA, and they didn't have a liquor section. Why is that?

OMFG. No reason to be mean about it. I just moved here less than a month ago and didn't know...I thought maybe Wal-Mart didn't renew their license or something. BTW, yes, it was a supercenter.

Everything is backwards here compared to Ohio, so I didn't know.

I used to live in Pennsylvania and it has some odd liquor laws. You can only buy wine and hard liquor at state-run "wine and spirits" stores. Not very upscale wines either...we used to cross the river to New Jersey for decent wine.

They also only sell beer at these icky beer distributor places, like warehouses where you can buy cases or kegs. You can pick up six packs at some convenience stores and restaurants though.

But definitely no alcohol at places like Wal Mart or the supermarket.

It's not the Wal-Mart, it's the state laws. Laws on selling alcohol vary from state to state. I live in Florida and can but it many places with ease. i have also lived in PA and know that the laws are much tightened up there on sales. Wal-Mart would sell pot if the state would let them...

The Wal-Mart may be in a "dry county" where it is illegal to sell alcohol products. But as far as them not selling liquor that is weird but it must be a Wal-Mart thing.

Because it is not freaking legal in PA. You do understand liquor laws vary from state to state, right? In PA, Hard liquor and wine are only sold at state run stores.

Different States have different liquor laws. In New York, you can buy cold beer in Walmart, In Indiana, you can only get warm beer at Walmart. In Utah, you can't buy beer in Walmart.

Also, you can not buy Liquor in New York, unless it's from a "Liquor" store.
