Yes.

"... straightening hair using heat or chemicals damages the hair, weakening the hair structure. That makes hair more likely to break in the middle of the hair shaft." http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/utsw/cda/dept16498/files/153642.html

It will grow out, but the hair that is straightened is permanently damaged. You can lessen the degree of damage by making sure that your hair and scalp is healthy before you get it straightened. Supposedly, they make conditioners that are specifically designed to mask the appearance of damaged hair from chemical straighteners, but I question whether or not they really do anything more than any other conditioner for dry/damaged hair.

Any chemical treatment damages your hair to a certain degree. Even irons damage your hair.

Curly hair can be very cute short...with the right cut. Go get a consultation with a stylist, but first ask if they charge for the consult. Some do and some don't , it doesn't mean they are any better either way. You have to talk and decide if you think she will do a good job or not. Trust.

There is nothing permanent...I am not sure what straightening does to the hair, but it can't do anything below the scalp so, it may damage what is on the top, but if it does, just cut it or wait till it grows out...
I get my hair a permanent to curl it! It dries out the bottom of my hair, but I just get it trimed every few months.
No permanent damage...

Yes. Once you permanently straighten your hair, it starts to fall out. I suggest getting a hair straightener if you don't already have one. Straighten your hair in layers, and no one would ever know! My personal fave straightener is Wet 2 Straight.

you cant permantly do anything to you hair really... its always growing... and the changes you make will never really be permanent...

straightening will damage... but not that much...
no more than bleaching or perming...

you could just get the cut you want and straighten your hair everyday with a flat iron, or just your bangs...

go ask a hair dresser/stylist they'll advise you best

Actually, I've never heard of permanent straightening hair. It's still going to grow. Right?

Any kind of chemical treatment for your hair can do damage. Depending on the condition of your hair it should affect it as much as a perm would effect someone with straight hair. I have straightened my hair myself before by using a at home perm kit and combing it straight for the time it recommends for a perm. If I were you I would consult with a hair dresser as everyones hair varies.

Yes, any chemical treatment you put in your hair damages it to some extent. Since your hair is naturally curly, it tends to become dryer and more damaged as opposed to naturally straight hair. To maintain healthy looking hair be sure to use a deep conditioner once a week and if possible, try to avoid dying it or doing any other chemical treatments. Ojon is an excellent hair treatment.

Firstly, there is no such thing as "permanently" straightening your hair and secondly, yes, it will damage your hair. Any kind of chemical process is damaging to hair.

Good luck and I hope it looks great!

It depends, if they do not know the procedure on the product you are going to have a problem. Why don't you just use a flat iron and use that to flatten your hair and use Matrxi specially formulated to use to flatten the hair with the use of a flat iron. That is safer than using a chemical.
