Does anyone pull out that "tail" in their eggs? Do you know of an easy way to get it out? I use a fork, but sometimes I have to work at it. I don't remember that stuff in my eggs years ago. It's gross.

I am a total egg freak, I eat eggs alot, yes I get it with a fork, until the good stuff falls back in the bowl, and I chuck that nasty white stringy thing in the garbage. Even when I put an egg in meatloaf I take it out. I heard its the umbilical cord, but dont want to say it. cuz "I Love Eggs"

Can you describe the "tail"? Not sure what you mean.

Not to gross you out, but I've had fertilized eggs in my dozen eggs before - it was actually forming a chick fetus. Ack. It was bright white, but was partly connected to the egg shell and the yolk.

This *may* be what you're finding. Pardon the graphic description.

LOL, in my house we call it 'the white thing', but it's the membrane....the 'cord' per se, that nurtures the potential chick. Heck yeah we pull that thang out...eww. We've always used a fork. Some savvy people can separate it out when they crack the shell...trapping it between the two halves, but I find the fork more consistent than anything else. It's always been there...and in a hard boiled egg you can spot it if you're skilled. Just that when you were younger you were more trusting of our mothers to be serving us something safe...lol.

Its not an undeveloped chick fetus or anything, its always been in your eggs its called a chalazae its to hold the yolk in the center of the egg. The older the egg is the less pronounced the chalazae is

There is no fat in the egg white. The "tail" is the baby chick part in it's most basic form, the yolk is the nutrient food sack for the chicks further formation. It's always been there, you just never noticed.

It's just part of the egg. It doesn't affect the taste in any way. I would actually leave it in...it would most likely help the egg cook better.

It's so gross. I take it out too. But I also use a fork. Let me know when you figure out another way. Thanks :)

it's always been there. that's what would become the 'umbelical cord' if the egg were fertalized and the chick growing.

I pull it out too. It must be some sort of umbilical system.
