Depends on what you are referring to. The body? The mind? The soul? All of these could be called the self -- small 's'. But since you used a captial 'S', I am assuming you are referring to the Paramatma, the Supersoul. Paramatma is the plenary expansion of the Supreme Lord that pervades the entire material world and resides in the heart of every living being witnessing every thought, action, and desire.

The Bhagavad-gita gives a very clear description of the Supersoul: "The Supersoul is the original source of all senses, yet He is without senses. He is unattached, although He is the maintainer of all living beings. He transcends the modes of nature, and at the same time He is the master of all modes of material nature. The Supreme Truth exists both internally and externally, in the moving and nonmoving. He is beyond the power of the material senses to see or to know. Although far, far away, He is also near to all. Although the Supersoul appears to be divided, He is never divided. He is situated as one. Although He is the maintainer of every living entity, it is to be understood that He devours and develops all. He is the source of light in all luminous objects. He is beyond the darkness of matter and is unmanifested. He is knowledge, He is the object of knowledge, and He is the goal of knowledge. He is situated in everyone's heart." Bhagavad-gita 15.15-18.

To investigate further you may be interested in reading the Bhagavad-gita online or downloading it. There are elaborate purports to the texts I quoted above that will give you very good explanations. http://www.krishna.com/e-books.

An illusion. Because our personalities, our 'self' is constantly changing, just like everything else is, so what does that make it? Right...illusion.

That was one hard concept for me to absorb. I even had to talk to a Buddhist monk while I grappled with that one. But then, there is no 'I'. Now it seems simple. HA HA!

the thing that 's not belong to you , if you think you are beautiful or cute or ugly, it just illusion coz its changing , getting old , die, your body get back to the nature become only dust or water, you can't control it.

what you see in the mirror is a combination of elements so what make you think that it is yours ? what 's different between white or black or Hispanic or Asian we all come from the same place and when we die we get back to place we come from . so is your car ,house etc.. so don't think they are belong to yourself

don't think you are better than other , from body or material that you think they are belong to you and you have them coz actually you don't

only one thing you can control is your mind to choose to think and do good or bad , they'll go with you everywhere till the next life .......and next life.......( as karma )
