My friends new girl friend said she has a major in physics. She only bartends, and when asked why she doesnt do something with her college degree, she says she makes more money bartending. Ive seen where she bartends, it is not a richy place by any means, its more a gothic bar. I think she is full of ****......whats your opinion??

I think she is lieing about having a degree, and her way of covering it is to say she makes more money as a bartender

if she has a good degree instead of crappy ones from crappy colleges, she should get higher pay using her degree. the starting salary might not be as high as bartending, but in the long run, physicists definitely earns more. i think there are three possibilities:
1. she really likes to bartend and can only see the short term money.
2. she has a really crappy physics degree and no company wants her. people with good degree should have job offer even before they graduate.
3. she doesn't actually have a physics degree. she says that to make herself look smarter.

I think your right. I have known a few bartenders but never seen anyone retire doing it. There are so many job opportunities from a physics degree it isn't even funny. Jobs that pay very well.

Off hand I would say that person is lieing about having a physics degree or has a PhD like mine, bought off the internet.

It all depends on the bar your at & how good of a bartender you are. Some people no matter how cute or ugly, have the personality to be a bartender, some dont. If you got it, any bar you work at you can make good $$.

No way bartenders get paid well but with the proper Carree the physics degree could earn way more.
Try NASA or some sort of avionics company

i agree, i think she is full of it, she probably doesnt really want to look for a steady job using her degree, it might be too conventional for her, some bartenders make a lot of money, but it depends on where they are working

if she thinks she can make more as a bartender than with her physics degree, then she either isn't trying to get a job with her degree or she just can't find a job with it. i have a friend who hasa masters in Chemistry, and she cant find a job either... it happens sometimes.
