Yes I actually have noticed that. I have tried to drink a soda too, but its just not as good to quench a thirst as water is.

The answer to your question is probably related to how the nerves in the stomach sense temperature. The hot/warm drink stays in the stomach longer...the cooler drink is usually emptied out sooner, since the stomach wants to get it on its way. Thus, your lower digestive tract, mainly the small/large intestines, has a quicker shot at the water. That is, the water gets farther along the digestive tract, faster...to a place where it can be absorbed into the body...and you sense this as your thirst being quenched, as the water reaches the cells.

drinking any water, cold, or room temp, quenches thirst better than any other drink. It's a medical fact.

Of course! I live in Maracaibo, city of perpetual summer. We have to drink cold or ice water if we really want to quench our thirst.

Yeah, and it is less of a shock to the body's temperature of 98.6 roughly, so that is why it works better. It isn't clouded by anything other than hydrogen and oxygen and so it just provides "nourishment" for our cells. Great stuff, and yet we forget how important it is.
