That is part of the protestant theology. If protestantism gives all the authority to he bible. Why doesn't the bible specifically say anywhere that we should accept Jesus al Lord and Savior ,but rather it says that we obtein salvation by faith in him?. And also what about the sinners prayer. It also says nowhere that we obtain salvation through it.

to accept G-D as G-D is a must, before you can be saved by his son.our will has to match G-D's will, if we are ever to be one ,with the son.we become heirs of G-D and co-heirs with the son. which in your belief we would rather worship our brother instead of our father.

Do not try to think... it will only get you in trouble.

"If it made any sense you wouldn't have to accept it on faith, would you?" ~ from Nuns On The Run.

Science, logic, reason, and critical thought have long been regarded (by religious people) as the enemies of religion. Considering that those are the tools of highly intelligent people, it should not come as a huge shock to learn that intelligence (or lack of it) has some connection to religious belief. In fact, there are about 40 studies, conducted over the past 80 years or so, that reveal a statistically significant NEGATIVE CORRELATION between intelligence and religiosity. In plainer language, that means that they found that the more intelligent a person is, the LESS likely that person is to be religious... or, reciprocally, the LESS intelligent a person is, the MORE likely that person is to be religious.

If you think about it, those findings make a lot of sense. Intelligence tests mainly provide an indication of reasoning ability and problem solving ability... logic, reason and critical thought. These are the very qualities that see through religion, and recognize it for what it is; i.e., religion cannot survive the glaring light of reason and critical thought. This was well understood by important figures in religious history. This is why the early church destroyed all the 'tainted' (non-canonical) writings, which were in conflict with dogma... Greek philosophy, medicine, mathematics, astronomy, engineering... all the good stuff. By this means, Christianity dragged humanity directly into the Dark Ages.

Just to illustrate the point, let's see what Martin Luther, the 'father' of protestantism, had to say about 'reason' and secular knowledge:

"Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense, and understanding, and whatever it sees must be put out of sight and ... know nothing but the word of God." ~ Martin Luther

"Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but -- more frequently than not -- struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God." ~ Martin Luther

"There is on earth among all dangers no more dangerous thing than a richly endowed and adroit reason... Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed." ~ Martin Luther

"Reason should be destroyed in all Christians." ~ Martin Luther

The doctrine that you are referring to comes from several passages about salvation. The Bible talks about faith, believing, confessing, and receiving. The "sinner's prayer" is an attempt to put all of these thoughts together--there is no magic in it, and Christians should recognize that it is "man made" and not found word-for-word in the Bible.

At times, too much emphasis has been placed on getting someone to say the prayer when what really needs to happen occurs in the heart where only God can see, but there are also many people who have been saved using the sinners prayer as a tool.

Romans 3:23: "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe."

Romans 10:9: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

John 1:12: "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

Ok here are some real answers to a real good question...

Well there is no real "sinners prayer" they vary... it is sort of a personal confession to God and an open declarence that you want Jesus in your life and that you believe that He is that He said He was...

in otherwords you are basically accepting Him as your Lord when you confess that...

And these are the Biblical reasons why there is a sinners prayer....

"That if you confess with your mouth, ' Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."- Romans 10:9-10, the Bible

" He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."- Proverbs 28:13, the Bible

And no one can obtain salvation... either by good deeds or anything else... it is the gift of God, His Son...

Jesus answered, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me."- John 14:6, the Bible

"For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works so that no man can boast."-Ephesians 2:8-9, the Bible

Even Satan and His demons believe in Jesus... are they saved as well? No... it takes more than faith...

If you are in a plane doomed to crash would it take more than faith in a parachuit to be saved... yes you have to put it on first... and trust it... it is the same with Jesus

By your faith and verbal acceptance that Jesus is Lord you are saved, you apply Him to your life... yes... then God commands you to do good deeds and obey his word... if you don't than you live in disobedience BUT you are still saved... faith without works is usless.... But it is by God's grace that you are still saved, you can't do anything to separate yourself from Him once you accept Him... but when you don't do wht you are supposed to do you are waisting your life doing tempral meaningless things... the Bible also says. "whatever you sow, you will reap" basicaly whatever you give you get....

I hope that this helps... when all else fails read the Bible... it will set you straight...

God bless you and your family,

sencerly, a Christian...

Jesus was put on Planet earth to redeem man back to God. That makes Him the savior regardless of weather we believe it or not. It is the reality of what took place that we believe in and Jesus is the one that was the vessel through whom it came. Part of what He did was to make the mind of Christ available again to mankind, like it was intended to be when God created humans. The reality is the reality, is the reality. It is the mindset that we must accept in order to be saved and reborn. Jesus is automatically the Lord of that mindset. The sinners prayer, is simply telling God that you accept what Jesus has done for you. Prayer is talking to God. You say to God that you accept the fact that Jesus died for your sins and was raised again to live at the right hand of God. You confess the fact that you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness so the connection to the Father is restored. You further vow to turn away, repent, from your old natural self and take on the self that God created you to be with the mind of Christ. Jesus was and is the perfect example, so we can see how we are to live until the mindset establishes it's self in our souls.

Surely you mean accepting Jesus as Dictator and Pawnbroker? Just joking. But those things you mention are inventions that have been inferred from from the bible. The bible is written is such a way that it is wide open to any kind of interpretation.

We have salvation through Jesus Christ because Jesus is God.
If you believe that Jesus is Christ than you can repent and ask for forgiveness in his name and it will be forgiven. This is salvation.
Understand that at the time of this writings, to say you were the Lord, you would be sentence to die. If you Love God, than you would believe in faith. This is true love.

I agree, like I have always said, a lot of the followers misinterpreted the meaning of the Bible, then pass along these errors to their off spring. That is the biggest problem with religion. People don't want the Bible to mean what it says, they want it to mean what they say.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. -John 3:16-18

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. -Romans 10:9-10

believe: to trust in Jesus or God as able to aid either in obtaining or in doing something: saving faith

Maybe "accepting" is not the right word but believing is. He did it all but it is give and if not "accepted" in faith, believing it does no good. (see Romans 6:23 and Ephesians 2:8-9)
