you're going to have to talk to your mother. 18 seems a bit extreme. you'll be socially awkward in college if you don't know how to date....

How old are you now? Prom is a long way away. Maybe between now and then, you can show your mom how mature you really can be. Parents know what it's like to be a teenager. They remember those days, don't kid yourself. Perhaps if you have some heart to heart talks with your mom and ask her why she's against you dating until you're 18, then maybe it will help you to understand where she is coming from. Parents usually are not trying to piss you off or make your life miserable. They only want what is best for you. If you're calm and rational, which as a teenager was hard for me to do, then she can see how well you can handle situations. But if you go to her screaming that she doesn't understand you, and you'll just die if you can't be with this guy, then you are only showing her that you really aren't mature enough to date yet. It's all about RESPECT, from both sides.

First of all, have your mom get to know him. Maybe if she thinks he's really nice and has good morals, she'll let you date him. It's worth a try. If not, just see if you can go to prom as "friends". I have a friend who had the same problem you do. She dated behind her moms back, they caught her, but she made them get to know him, and they actually really liked him and thought he was a great guy. That might happen for you! Well, I hope it does, take care!

What do you mean by "be with him"? Being friends is one thing but if you mean sex, you're too young. As long as you are living under your mom's roof you need to obey her wishes. You might want to suggest an idea to your mom about the prom...If you double date or have your mom be a chaperon at the prom.

Just convince your mom that its good friendship and you would like to go to prom together. Ask your mom why she wont allow you to have a boy friend until 18.If she is able to convince you follow her instruction. If not you try to convince her.Just weigh the pros and cons. Think its better to follow your mother's instruction if you are confused and not convinced.Your mom knows better.

You never said how old you were. There must be a reason that your Mom feels that way. All you can do is talk to her and plead your case. After all she is your Mom.
