Years ago there was a train that ran from Los Angeles to Chicago through Las Vegas and Salt Lake City but not any more. Too bad.

Close proximity Las Vegas and Salt Lake City????? My god!

Unfortunately the train that ran from Chicago to Los Angeles via Salt Lake City and Las Vegas (Desert Wind) was withdrawn in 1997 because of bad decisions of Amtrak at that time.

Sorry but there are no passenger trains much at all in the U.S. that runs between cities of close proximity and that includes between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.. YOu do have the option, though of going either by plane or by bus... either would be cheaper than by train anyway.

No only bus and plane unless you want to take a train from SLC to Oakland,CA then to LA and then to Las vegas. Or you can take a train to Chicago and then to Las Vegas.
