I am decorating a little boy's bedroom in the theme of a ship, & along with the nets, anchor, etc. I need a wooden beer keg (barrel type) to use as a bedside table. I would prefer to order it online if I can find where to do that at, but will travel to purchase one if I can find merchants thru-out the North Ga. mountains & down around Atlanta, Ga who carry the wooden kegs. Any input for both online and physical purchasing locations will be greatly appreciated. Diane

Beer hasn't been in wood barrels for a long time, however, whiskey is still aged in barrels. Distillers can only use these barrels once. In your part of the country there are many whiskey distillers, who would surely sell their used barrels. Most whiskey is made in Kentucky and Tennessee. Lynchburg, TN is not real far from Atlanta,GA and that is the home of Jack Daniels. I know you can buy a full barrel from them, so I would assume you could buy an empty from them.

Just buy any keg from a liquor store. They all require a security deposit in case you dont return the keg. Then, after enjoying your keg of beer, don't return the keg and forfeit your security deposit. voila, you have a keg of your very own.

You may want to try contacting Brown & Foreman. They are a company that bottles alcohol for a lot lof the liquor companies. They might be able to provide you with some info.
