No it isn't. You can copy the folders but the programs will not work unless properly installed.

No, it doesn't help, if you remove your whole hard drive and put it into your new computer, it will work in this way. You just can't transfe, because the program had some files that related to the windows 98 and it might not work when you transfer to Windows XP.

You should easily upgrade to Windows XP Home just by installing it on your existing computer. You should not need to re-install the software.
However, for better, clean results, you should install Windows XP cleanly, then install all the other application afterwards. This avoid glitches and problems that may pop up later. Since you don't have the original software, I would install Windows XP as I suggested above. BE SURE to backup any of your documents, such as Word, Excel, e-mail documents, etc. BEFORE you install Windows XP....just as a precaution.

You can move the programs over but they may not work correctly. You will be missing the registry entries for those applications. It's worth a try but it may not work.

I just do it in DOS... create sub-directories and load the programs in.. If you can't use DOS, you may have a problem.
