Firstly, it depends how much love and care you have for each other. Long distance relationships need sacrificing and selflessness, however, it is not impossible. Secondly, time is also important. How long you are going to have this kind of relationship is another factor.

When I met my husband-to-be, we lived 1 1/2 hours apart. The entire time we were dating and engaged, we were apart while he traveled all over the country for his work. The first 4 years we were married, he traveled just as much. He didn't stop traveling all the time until I was 8 months pregnant with our first child. It can work if you are devoted to making it work. We now have 2 wonderful children and will have been married 12 years this month. Good luck!! :-)

Part of it depends on the distance and how much effort you put into seeing and talking to each other. But most of the time, no, I don't believe they work out.
