I am moving to a house with 1.3 acres, I want 2-3 chickens. I want them to be beautiful and not agressive, also good egg layers. Any breed suggestions?

You can get baby chicken from any feed store who carries them. Or look up a farmer near your area. I would go with road island red they lay brown eggs sometimes double yokes and they are the friendliest of the chicken breeds. Now if you want TINY LITTLE CHICKENS go with button quail. All the chicken in tiny little packages only they dont sit on their eggs you have to incubate them and then raise babies like that.

Australia's are the nicest best egg-layers I've found. I presently have more than two hundred chickens and we sell free-range eggs to drop-customers. We have experimented with various breeds of chickens and have settled on Australia's as the best and nicest we have had.
If you want enough eggs for two people, you might consider keeping about six hens. You won't need a rooster unless you want to let the hens hatch some chicks.
Have fun.

As far as unaggressive Orpingtons are wonderful. If you pay attention to them when they're young, you can really make pets out of them. They get big and they are beautiful birds. Come in white, buff(gold) and black. The roosters have gorgeous big tail feathers.

Rhode Island Red
Actually I know nothing about chickens but this name sounds good
If I were going to do this I would probably go to a nearby farm store that sells chicks and see what they recomend

There is a breed called an Easter Chicken and it lays colored eggs - pastel. NO, I am not kidding. She looks kind of like a hawk, copper/black colored and fairly friendly.

just go to some stock yards and ask the sellers, they are always knowledgeable and help you along
i suggest starting with 5 hens and a rooster....more than one male and they will fight, and when you first have chickens a couple always die or disappear
