It could be one of several things:
1. Passwords are caps sensitive. Check Caps Lock.
2. You AREN'T using the correct password. At least not the one you typed in to create the account. If you're not typing it in EXACTLY the way you did when you created it, it won't work.
3. If it's a new account, sometimes it takes a little while for the account to register in the system.
4. The e-mail server you're trying to access may be down.
5. The settings that you used in Outlook Express to set up the new account are wrong. i.e. You have "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" checked, but the server doesn't require that, the POP/SMTP server names are incorrect, etc.
6. You're trying to access her account and your account at the same time, and you're putting in the wrong password for the account it's trying to access. If this is the case, delete her account from the Account Settings area, and create a new identity in Outlook Express (File - Add New Identity) then follow the wizard.

Depending on your provider, when you open oe go to tools then accounts then click on properties then servers tab make sure you have the option my server requires auth checked then click on settings and use same settings as my incoming server..
If that does not work do this.
Open Outlook Express
Select TOOLS from the menu bar and choose ACCOUNTS in Outlook Express.
Choose the MAIL tab from the top of this new window. (Figure 1)
Click the ADD button, and select MAIL.
Enter your full name in the box specified. Click NEXT.
Enter your email address in the box specified. Click Next.
Enter the mail servers as shown below. Click Next.
Incoming Mail Server: call your provider for address
Outgoing Mail Server: call your provider for address
Enter your account name (Username) and password in the box's specified. Click Next. This should conclude the setup process. Click Finish.
Once you are back at the Accounts Window (Figure 1) click the PROPERTIES button.
Click on the Servers tab.
At the bottom of this screen where it says "Outgoing Mail Server" check the box that says "My server requires authentication." (Figure 2).
You do NOT need to click on the settings button as it is already set correctly by default,
Click OK then CLOSE and now your program is set up for sending mail with HunTel.net.

Double check for the right password, contact your email provider if necessary. Make sure that Outlook Express isn't trying to download your daughter's email too. Also check your other settings, such as email servers, and your username.

you using the outlook express to handle both your email and your little girl??
anyway... could it be your little girl's password that Outlook Express is prompting?? Also note that password are case sensitive... make sure the cap lock is not on.
go to Email Account of OE and click the tick 'Remember Password' and then save.
then try again.
if still don't work... try checking with your ISP to confirm your password.

I dumped Outlook Express, I hate it. Pick Yahoo or someone else for your mail, You'll be a lot happier.

that distinctive UN/PW is for the ISP (Comporium) account. OE has a container someplace to 'bear in mind' those so which you do no longer would desire to re-enter every time you attempt to log in & get mail. i've got no longer used OE in years and don't bear in mind the place it fairly is, yet scrounge around for that putting. (debts possibly or this is homes???)
