Maybe they feel a bit vulnerable and prefer to walk on the same side of the road as someone else or maybe they live on that side of the street and you have an inferiority complex and think all the old people in the world are stalking you.

Have you done a study to see if this happens "ALL" the time or has it just happened to you? It would seem to me that this question is not the one you should be asking. Maybe you should ask why do YOU cross the street when you see an "OLD" person? I think you would be able to answer that much better or maybe next time this happens maybe you could ask them.
Peace

Are you kidding! it is hard enough as an old person to stand much less walk in a straight line..If I were you I would just step off the sidewalk till they pass.. This saves you the stress of dodge ball walking with the ben gay group and shows respect.
Or you could just yell "SALE AT WALMART ON DEPENDS"
and watch them run the other way...just a thought...

Maybe they just want a acknowledgment of their existence. A friendly "hello"and a smile would probably make them feel good, and might even make their day. If they are walking the same direction as you are, and you are coming up behind you, maybe they are trying to get out of your way and keep zigging instead of zagging. Just a simple "excuse me sir/ma'am" goes along way. The elderly are positive the youth has lost their manners.

Why do you have to cross to the other side of the pavement just to pass them, are you scared of old people or something. (Or is old age itself that frightens you?)

I am sorry that people get in your way. Do you own the streets or the sidewalks? Do you set the rules as to where they can walk?
Get over it.
Someday you will be old and people will be avoiding you (if they aren't already). Show some respect. Show some maturity.

The see you at the same time and are crossing to avoid you. Theior reflexes are not as quick as yours and they have changed before they realized you are too. or if they are on theleft side they automatically shift to the right as most right handed people do.

I'm looking forward to being old so I can do all those annoying things and get away with it too. They do it deliberately, then put on that innocent, slightly puzzled and confused expression so you can't bring yourself to confront them. Then they have a good laugh at your expense down the bingo later

To annoy you. It's a conspiracy known only to the elderly who have nothing better to do with what remains of their lives than cross streets in order to annoy younger people. Get real, dweeb!
