Nothing.

This is what happens in war. This kind of thing almost always happens during a war. Wars bring out the worst in all of us. If you want to prevent this sort of thing (and I would think most people do) do not start a war.

On a somewhat related note, the Geneva Convention was a big mistake. It has perpetuated the lie that a humane, orderly, glorious war can be fought. It cannot. There is nothing glorious or humane about war. A single rape/murder is inconsequential compared to the overall destruction of property, resources and, most importantly, human life. We train our youth to kill, then we are surprised when these trained killers commit other crimes. How incredibly naive.

Peace is the only answer.

If they are convicted by a Military Courts Martial for the charges they are being investigated for having committed, then they should receive the maximum punnishment as allowed under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (U.C.M.J.).
I am a Retired Naval Chief Petty Officer with 24 years of Naval Service and served a month in Vietnam before the cease fire. I served during the Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm Campaigns, while my wife was deployed with her Reserve Unit in field operations.
I have seen many cases involving rape and death during my years of service and each was dealt with according to the Manual for Courts Martial. If these members are convicted, they according to the U.C.M.J. shall be sentenced to death or such other punnishment as a Courts Martial may direct.
In no way however should the entire United States Military be accused of being a group of rapists and killers. We are trained to fight and take life if necessary in defense of ourselves or others including friendly forces and innocent people.
Someone made a comment that nothing will happen, that Bush will pardon them. For your information, the President does not have the power to pardon anyone while he is seated in office. The only time he can pardon an invidual is when he is preparing to leave the office of the Presidency. The odds of him or any president pardoning someone for a crime such as this is very slim if at all. These people did what they did with no forethought of what the consequences would be or did not care.
I feel for their families that they have to suffer the indignation of knowing a member of their family has committed such an atrocity against another human being.
What many people who have written in here don't seem to realize however is that this happens more often right here in the United States than it does in war. How many gang members do not rape a female who is desiring to enter a gang? Yes, they are asking for admission, but what right does that give the gang to rape her?
What about a serial rapist? What gives him the right to violate a woman? Rape is rape no matter the place or the time or the situation. It is wrong and believe me, the military will deal with these people accordingly. They will not go unpunished.

As to whether I am proud of our service members, I couldn't be PROUDER of our Men and Women who serve with Honor. I have several friends from High School who have sons presently serving in IRAQ and some returning and I am proud of them for serving with honor attempting to bring peace to the IRAQI people who the majority of actually want to live in peace and freedom from terrorists.

They should be thrown in a dark cell with a few "bubba_Muhammeds". Perhaps being shared by a few bigger boys that will give them the same royal "shaft" a few thousand times and then a castration or "beheading" of the penis might be a good idea.
Rape of any female (no matter what race, creed or religion) deserves the highest punishment!

If they are found guilty, then the MAXIMUM sentence is appropriate.

Not only a heinous crime against an innocent child, but treasonous behavior.

if guilty, they put simple violence and lust ahead of their sworn duty to defend and protect America, and caused almost irrepairable harm to an already tarnished reputation.

Their actions would have affected negatively future relations with both Iraq and potential allies and informants.

Rape is a crime. These people should pay the penalty for that crime. Since they are military and subjec to the UCMJ, they should be imprisoned for a good long time and be issued dishonorable discharges at the very least

Execution by hanging or firing squad.

Just like they did in previous WW2 when US soldiers did these things.

BTW, under oath before Congress, Kerry said that he, too, participated in murder and rape in Vietnam. What do you think about that?

U.S. soldiers raped a 14 year old Iraqi girl? Wow, I hadn't heard that.

The same thing that would happen to any rapist/killer.
Does it make some big difference that they were soldiers to you?
Are soldiers any more or less human than any one else?
They should get a trial like anyone else and be sentenced if found guilty like anyone else.

i said this before and ill say it again, they should go to court ( we all know they are guilty, well at least i know they are). then they should go to prison so they can be tortured in there then get the death penalty. and if they dont get death and only prison for a while they should never be able to see their kids ever again ( i dont know if any of them has kids except barker). but he wont see them ever again. its too bad we cant just throw them out to the iraqis like bait and see what they do to them.

Death, or rot in Leavenworth for the rest of their natural lives. It's a military prison and tougher than any other prison in the country.

Better yet, let the relatives of the family execute them
