It was written by around 40 people from all walks of life, yet shows an amazing consistency which is evidence of divine inspiration; 24,000 copies were made of the original manuscripts, some within 35 years of the author's death (compared with 10 copies of Caesar's writings made 1000 years after his death, and 600 copies of the Iliad, made 1300 years after Homer's death).
It details the only way to Heaven, and no, it's not by being good.

The Bible says that the world has corners (Isaiah 11:12) and that it sets on pillars (I Samuel 2:8). It says that God accepted a human sacrifice -- he may have prevented Isaac's, but he allowed a general to sacrifice his own daughter without even a murmur, the text giving tacit support to the idea that having given his word, the man had to kill his child. (Judges 11:30-39). It clearly maintains that genocide is often commanded by God (Joshua 10:40-42 and I Samuel 15: 2, 3 and 8) and that, after killing all the adults in a race, taking the female children as sex slaves is permissible (Numbers 31: 17-18).
It also suggests killing kids who eat or drink too much (Deuteronomy 21: 18-21), and says that if god is angry with parents he will kill their children (Leviticus 26:22) and he blames things upon children whose great-great-great grandfathers committed the things being blamed on the kids (Exodus 20: 5).
Isn't Christianity great.

There is hope, there is love and forgiveness. It reveals the character of God and also the heart of man kind. It shows us our folly and as well our way to gain widsom. It's food for our souls, true nurishment and the means of knowing God and his will for us.
So many people say that the bible promotes organzied religion, that it's degrading towards women and all that stuff, but that couldn't be furthest from the truth. People just see one little thing without looking at the context and they believe everything a skeptic says.
If you want to know about the bible as a whole, It's an absolute good. If you want to know something in it specifically that is for you to search and God to communicate to you directly. It's amazing that ancient manuscripts thousands upon thousands of years old still applies in todays world. Not the Judiac law that we see in the Old testiment, but the need of grace and the relevance of what Jesus said.
I don't read it enough and I find myself dry and weak, like going through life without water, but when I read again my soul is refreshed and my heart is strengthened to endure anything that life can throw my way. I lament that I don't devote as much time as I have. I love what's in that book because as it says, God knows the plans that He has for us, plans to prosper us, with a hope and a future and it's within the pages of the bible. Just as you learned to write, to ride a bike or swim you have to learn to patiently look at this book not of what you want but rather what God wants you to come to understand. Everyone's experience is different, what may say one thing to someone can communicate another from one verse. It's amazing. When you see truth for the first time and not the junk of this world that tries to act like truth...man, it's liberating.
I hope this is what you were you looking for. See for yourself though, it'll be nothing but good for you

In the book of Daniel (9:24-25), Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem is predicted to the very day. That's something I think.

It's a book written by bronze age fisherman and goat-herders. And people follow it like it's directly from God. Unfortunately, we have several competing books all claiming to have divine inspiration. You better hope you are born in a geographically lucky spot where the true doctrine is taught. Or else!

It's a collection of books (66) ranging from history to poetry to prophecy. It's been studied and revered for centuries by Jews and Christians. It contains laws, stories, ritual practices, and prayers. It's scope is from eternity past (Genesis 1:1) to eternity future (Revelation 22). It has murder, incest, rape, wars, sacrifices, sibling rivarly and forgiveness. But mostly it's about God's great love for us in that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in him shall not die but have everlasting life.

I've been reading Psalm 4 every evening lately, because that's usually when I take my quiet time out to really concentrate on God alone. It's just a simple prayer of trust. I always turn to the Psalms first when I'm feeling discouraged, they really lift me up!
