I mean I keep hearing 95% of the people do, so there must be proof, something I'm just not getting. 95% can't be fooled can they. Why do I hold out, wouldn't it be easier to just accept it, not question it. But I do.

At one time, Galileo Galilei and a handful of others were the only ones who knew that the earth revolves around the sun. The rest of the world "knew" the opposite -- but the fact that they were the majority did not make them right.

I would like to know where you get this 95% I keep hearing.

Just in the USA you have 10% that do not believe at all. and another 10% agnostic. Sweden is touted as having 85% atheist (though some estimates are lower) and in the Netherlands 41% of the people have no religion.

I love weemaryanne's answer. To expand on that:
"The church says the earth is flat, but I know that it is round, for I have seen the shadow on the moon, and I have more faith in a shadow than in the church."

Some people don't believe in God, because they have never been taught the truth found in his word the Bible. I was one of those person that believed, but didn't know what I was believing in until someone showed me. The next time one of Jehovah's Witnesses knock on your door, ask them to help you learn what the Bible says about God. For starters God has a personal name, read the scriptures from your Bible at Psalms 83:18.

Psalms 83:18 "That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth. "

Do you have a fear of excepting?
The bible give so much proof. The bible bible talks about how the dinosaurs lived. God talk about the nature of the universe. All this was written before people knew science as we know it now.
Psalm 22 talks about how Jesus was going to be crucified about 1000 years before it happen, it also say how the Roman soldiers would gamble for his clothes.
There other proof in the bible. Now, how can you deny the existent of God and Jesus.
Open your mind.

I do not know why you hold out. It is simple, it is FREE. It is okay to question it. But get your answers from someone who can give a good testimony of the role God has played in their personal life. Don't listen to much of the cr** on here. The devil wants you NOT to believe, he will fight to keep you from God. Keep this in mind.

Obviously, you're the best one to answer this question. So why don't you believe in God? What sways you in that direction? God says that if you will seek Him, He will be found. That if you draw near to Him, he will draw near to you.

My guess . . . you don't believe in God because it's easier for you not to. That way you get to be the master of your own universe, the controller of your world. Without God, there's no need to consider whether something is right or wrong--only if it will work in your own best interest. You feel self sufficient, so you have no need to seek out God or to draw near to Him, and so you never experience the fulfillment of His promise to respond.

I seriously doubt 95% of people believe in god. But you may want to consider how many definitions of "believe" and "god" there are. Think allegory and metaphor, tangible and intantible...

sweetheart to believe something without question isn't very logical to me .. and i say this as someone who believes
the fact that you are posting this and asking this means you are curious and feel deep down there is .. but you need your own personal proof and that's great
so if you wish to .. do a little study .. ask people questions .. see what makes sense to you and what doesn't
and don't worry about it xx
