I have 2 pots of spice in the cupboard which do not have a label. One of them is paprika. I think it is the dark red one rather than the orangey red one.
Which one? I need to know in 2 minutes!!!

I've just added a tablespoon of it to my goulash so I wanted to be sure!

Paprika is probably the darker, deeper of the two.
The other is probably Cayenne

It could be either. When paprika is made, they separate the seeds from the pepper skin, dry them, grind them and then mix them back together. The skin gives the colour, the seeds give the spicy flavour, so more skin gives a deeper colour, more seeds give a stronger flavour. I would bet your dark red spice is the paprika.

Red could be chilli and orange tumeric! Oh the dilemma.
Go for dark red.

paprika is Green, yellow and dark red. Another name for it is capsicum

The lighter one is probably the Paprika, the darker is probably chili powder.
Taste them, that'll tell you for sure.
