I don't think so, infact they were a evil people that enslaved Africans to do all their work and tortured them and made them animals, horrible days. All the riches that we enjoy today are because of the unpaid, working slaves of the past. America was made great, economically wise because of African slaves not hard working European decendent Americans.
What do you think? Slaves that worked HARD from sunrise to sunset or Masters that just supervized

It's obivious that most of you don't seem to realize that 200 years of a people's free labor did do a great impact on how powerful this country is? I find most of you ignorant! I bet the majority of are impressed with the Eurpean Renaissance and think they must have been so smart with thier philosophies, sceinces and such. Well News Flash people that takes time and time is money! They drained so much gold from what is now called Mexico, Central America and South America. I bet the majority of you think they are hard working people too huh? The truth is that most of you feel so HIGH and PROUD about your "perfect" past that you can't see how much injustice has been done.

In some parts of the USA that might be true, such as in the South but the Civil War kind of negated the wealth that was created there. There were not too many slaves in the northern states. The percentage of people that owned slaves during those times was probably not very high in the overall population of the country. The percentage of the riches Americans enjoy today that resulted directly from slave labor is probably a very very low number. We probably have a higher percentage of riches deriving from Irish, German, Italian, Chinese than we do from slave labor. The slaves typically did low skill heavy lifting jobs such as agriculture jobs and most of those agriculture jobs were not involved in producing food. The Irish and Chinese built the railroads which would have a much longer lasting effect than the cotton industry. Manufacturing is what built the wealth that we are reaping the benefits of today. The food agriculture system was family based in the north from the time of colonization. I think your statement is wrong and very misguided.

Slavery was a dark period in American history, a mark against the soul of this country. No sane, intelligent person could ever believe otherwise.
That being said--the infrastructure of America today was not built by African slaves. The America of today exists because of the innovative discoveries, and back breaking labor by motivated Americans from various cultural backgrounds, who sought to make their lives matter, for themselves and for their progeny.
I'm sorry to inform you of the fact that very little evidence of the slave's labor exists today. They did not build the roads, they did not build the high rise cities, they did not build the educational systems or any other part of the current day infrastructure. But their descendents did--as paid labor, paid consultants, teachers, engineers, etc. That the progeny of slaves contributed to the building of this country cannot be disputed. But slavery did not build this country.

Their decedents have made this country what it is today . Imagine how this nation would look today if there had been no slaves brought to this America .
It would still be a great country but different in color , ethnic and culture . We would be missing the true greatness of America .
Instead of concentrating on the madness that came from Slavery , why not concentrate on the greatness , that have come from those people , that were brought here under protest .

Dude, study some accurate history books. Not to take away from the slaves contribution to society and what they endured, but that was over a hundred years ago. Not everyone used slaves, it was only the rich who could even afford a slave. What about the industrial revolution? We didn't have slaves anytime near that era. Plus, don't confuse settlers with immigrants. Settlers are people who settle a new territory. Immigrants are people who move from one country to another (already settled country) to live.

Funny you should ask that, because THEY DID NOT.
Out of all people living and dead that built this country, 14% were immigrants and 84% were CITIZENS. Your believing the lies again. Exactly when did the word 'citizen' drop from everyone's vocabulary??
Did a black slave build your house? Did your job exist in 1860? What slaves built the skyscrapers and racetracks...your shopping malls...Slaves cleaned house babysat and picked crops, do you have hand-me-downs that old...how stupid do you want to look?

slaves worked the fields in the south.
the north was much more economically powerful than the south and the north had no slaves.
america became economically powerful because of european immigrants who brought knowledge and technology with them.
innovation makes countries rich, not farmers.
not to say that farmers aren't important, they are. they feed the world. but all countries have farms, but that doesn't make them rich. south america has tons of farmers, but they still aren't richer than north america or europe.
technology makes countries rich, and technology was brought to america by europeans.

really I never knew that these Big Malls, skyscrapers, Bridges and so many other such wonders were made by slaves and not by the brains. Very intresting innovation. Must be nominated for some prize.

Only the rich elite owned slaves.
This statement is proof of my often expressed theory that The Founding Fathers would be charged with hate crimes if they were alive today and..
The slave ships were jew owned.
I think it was a big mistake bringing the slaves.
